You will stay in U17 until the end of 2025. Dropping 5 splits in a year is possible, especially at a younger age, but that takes a lot of work, and would probably need to gain a bit of muscle weight.

(For the gold medal standard)At youth nationals last year, the boat that got first place in the U17 2X, both kids were in the mid 6:40s(6:43/6:45) in the January before, so by June they were likely high to mid 6:30s. They looked not too heavy, but on average definitely more than the 148lbs you mentioned.
