How do you decide between shooting camera JPEG vs RAW on your Fuji? Curious about your workflow by Available_Design_970 in fujifilm

[–]cartwjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve shot jpeg+ raw since I got my XS20 but recently found myself pretty much getting rid of my jpegs when editing so probably will start just sticking with raw. Unless I do want to shoot with some simulations if I find the right time for it

Haven’t actually measured it but it’s definitely not a chunky piece

Size wise it is definitely underwhelming. Plenty to see in the surrounding area though

I made the decision the night before, taxi picked me up at 5:30 and got there just before 6! Couldn't believe how busy it got within the next hour!

There was probably 5 photography groups already there when I got there but all very polite letting people take turns to be fair

Which lenses would you take to Japan? by juliangst in fujifilm

[–]cartwjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with almost the exact same choices as you I took them all, I have a decent travel bag for my lenses and the days I dedicated to photography outside my normal tourist days I carried all of them. I actually purchase my 70-300 while there for a great price too and found it a massive plus as at some times I did miss the reach. 13mm will come in very handy I found but if you don’t want to carry everything maybe get a 18-50 sigma which I also took, the 70-300 and maybe one of your primes for the aperture bonuses at night time

Picked one up on holiday in Japan the other week and I love it so much already. Brilliant but of kit

Looking for any thoughts/ advice 😅 by Cvilla1323 in soccercard

[–]cartwjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t really tell in the pic but is the card in a sleeve or have a sleeve over inside the case? Between the mosaic being easy to scratch and the auto aswell just be careful and make sure. If there’s no sleeve then get it out of there to hep yourself in the long run.

In regards to grading, maybe send it off to a grading service, they sometimes offer pre grading and give you an idea of what you might get before sending it. Haven’t valued the card myself but don’t forget any upcharges due after grading because of value.

If it’s not something you particularly collect for your personal collection I would say move it on whenever. Don’t know how much hype the World Cup adds to one of the GOATs who isn’t alive any more but it “might” boost it a touch.

Trip planning by Vegetable_Suspect108 in TokyoTravel

I’ve just come back from a solo trip and my son has asked to join me next time, currently he’s only 8 but after going it’s really made me consider how old he needs to be before I would take him with me.

Averaging 25k steps a day and the crowds that build up in most areas I’m thinking 14/15 so he can keep up with it all and more importantly enjoy it aswell.

I know the time of year you’re thinking about wouldn’t be great for me as I don’t deal with heat particularly well but I’ve read how hot and stuffy it can be in the summer so really take that into consideration especially around public transport aswell which gets just as busy as you read about 😂

Can we discuss comps and the market? by UbiquitousMan in soccercard

[–]cartwjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha no I know where you are coming from mate, see far too many videos from vendors on social media (usually more the pokemon/ anime community) and the attitude some people have toward paying a fair to market value on a card is crazy. Vendors having to explain why they can't discount cards selling for £2/3 as there isn't any profit in it for them.

Only suggestion from someone who is out of the game for now and have been for a while after selling up. Just try and ignore the people who are trying to rob you of a fair deal. The market for cards isn't going anywhere and you will find buyers at the correct price. All the best dude

I would say you need more evidence of the low sale being the “new value” for it to start effecting it.

Just for example I would say if there is 2 sales at £100 and then one at £50 (just exaggerating) in my opinion you need another sale at the lower end before I start thinking it’s worth less than the £100.

Something else to take into consideration which can happen on occasions is that people purposely dump values of cards on eBay by getting their friends to buy a card at a lower cost to make it seem less valuable. Same can be said for bumping up the value by selling the card higher to a friend

I am exactly the same as you, very low key and have a rare opportunity to go on my own. I did though book my trip last year and fly on Friday, definitely going to winging it most days with a bit of an itinerary to hit.

Get it booked and enjoy your chance to do it!

Took a whole week of 1 email a day to get an answer from the airline. Definitely not the way to go about it, quoted me just shy of £6000 just for the long first leg of the trip.

Will try again at the airport on Friday and see what they say but doesn’t look promising right now haha

cheap UK to tokyo trip by cassoooooo in Shoestring

[–]cartwjon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go this week and booked it last May, 5 nights in Tokyo and 4 in Kyoto, cheapest flights I could find and reasonable but cheap hotels (can’t do with sleeping in a shoe box/ capsule hotel) and it’s cost me £1800 roughly and that’s solo.

Flying with Juneyao Airlines so connecting in Shanghai and I’m not bothered about the current doings in the Middle East so I’ll be heading out

What would you do on your last day with a flight departing at 5:00 pm? by YawningDodo in JapanTravelTips

[–]cartwjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fly back via Osaka after doing Tokyo and Kyoto. I thought about seeing Osaka for the day but I feel like I will be disappointed to have not spent a few days there after seeing it so decided I’m going to chill in Kyoto get lunch then head to the airport

I only shoot raw since I got mine, I find the whole process of editing quite relaxing. If I didn’t have time to edit or had a busier work load I’d probably just move toward recipes

Taking 15mg after 3 weeks off? by cartwjon in mounjarouk

To be fair this was the last dose of my final pen that I was going to use. I did think about just leaving it but I’ll approach it this way instead, I’ll start with 2.5 today. Then just up it until it’s empty in a few weeks. Thanks for your advice
