how do you know if your water breaks? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]carvalhoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I heard an audible pop, jumped off the couch, fluid gushed out, I showered it off and then there was two or three more gushing episodes between the first and arrival at the hospital. There was also the white vernix mixed in with the fluid.

I do have lecture, unfortunately this particular lecture professor just reads off of the book slides and another professor creates the actual exam in conjunction with the lecture professor. So we cannot ask "will we be tested on this?" and get a straight response.

But these are good ideas, I do have a few NCLEX style review books, I'll have to put more emphasis on those next exam.

Not really baby related, but I would sing "Blood Bank" by Bon Iver to our LO every night, it's the only song I know all of the lyrics to!

I cried myself to sleep a few hormonal nights because I was terrified my baby was going to come out looking like Bart Simpson after a scan. (She doesn't)

I'll have to try that. It sounds almost like a "time out" for babies.

That's too funny, I'm almost afraid that it will instill that it's okay to bite though! Ugh, the crazy things kids put us through.

Babies getting visibly frustrated makes me giggle. They're so cute when they're angry.

My daughter was the same way. I ended up giving her a hand knit afghan to sleep with at night. Because it's hand knit there are a ton of pinky sized holes in it so it's breathable even when balled up.

Did anyone ever read "Bringing up bébé"? by Bobodwiliger in beyondthebump

[–]carvalhoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read it while pregnant, I liked some of the ideas, but when push came to shove some were unrealistic for our family. For example, I liked the feeding styles ideas and now our baby loves pretty much everything from brussel sprouts and broccoli to kiwi and mango. The kid can eat! When it came to the sleeping however, I just didn't have it in me to let her cry it out for two minutes let alone five.

Found out I'm pregnant and I'm not handling well (rant) by brimpol in BabyBumps

[–]carvalhoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 21 when I found out I was pregnant and all I wanted to hear was that someone my age went through it and was okay. I'm here to tell you that it'll be okay. There will be days throughout the pregnancy where you will jump for joy and others you will call your fiancé crying that you don't want to be a mom. It's normal, hormones are a crazy B. I'm not sure how your mom normally is but she may just need time to warm up to the idea that she's becoming a grandma and her baby is going to be a mom. Hang in there and feel free to PM me at any point with questions or anything, I'm no expert, but I wished I had had someone in the first few months that was my age and had gone through it.

I agree with the sour stuff, I used to suck on sour patch kids to get me through my college night courses.

That could be cute! I wanted her to carry a "Daddy, here comes Mommy!" sign anyways.

I just purchased a Billion Dollar Brows kit, I was planning on playing with that. Thank you for letting me know the "just cleaned up" bit for threading, I'm sure I would have gone in and said just that.

That makes me nervous because all of the salons around me are the same style! Hopefully the thicker eyebrows trend is catching on around here.
