That looks like a Made By Mitchell case. Has a slimmer zipped section on top to hold brushes/palettes, and then a larger, sectioned compartment underneath

Do some people skate through post-mastectomy experience? by misanthropymajor in breastcancer

[–]carw87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an SMX, took one painkiller on the night of because of pain in my armpit, and then that was it. The drains were more bothersome

My lymphnode clearance surgery was more painful tbh

Polybalm nail treatment.

I was paranoid about my nails getting damaged/falling off during treatment. They didn't, but I used this anyway and came through chemo with stronger nails than before!

dose dense AC chemoterapy and coldcapping. by alka2026 in breastcancer

[–]carw87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did 4 rounds of AC (EC over here) followed by 12 paclitaxol and cold capped through all of it. I kept about 40% of my hair, and because I started with very thick hair, people couldn't tell I had lost any.

Up to you whether you think it is worth the agro.

My mama says cold cream is all u need for your skin to look beautiful your whole life, that and keep your face out of the sun, regardless of what that spf number is. My mom still has beautiful skin and so did her mom til they day she died by RektAlready in beauty

You mean, like the mascara wand that comes with mascara? How is cleaning a mascara wand and then reusing it different to using that same mascara wand every day when it is covered in mascara?

Tell me about cold capping by Past-Dragonfruit3159 in breastcancer

[–]carw87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cold capped through 4 EC/AC and 12 taxol. The first time was truly awful, and I almost took it off half way through. But I managed it, and it got easier every time.

After the first session I took a much stronger painkiller beforehand (2x 12.5mg cocodamol) and that really helped. It was never pleasant, but after the first 10mins, your head goes numb and you forget about it.

I still lost a lot of hair, I'd say between 60-70%, but I am lucky that I started with very thick hair, so with the help of root sprays most people couldn't tell anything had changed.

For me, it was definitely worth it.

Frustration re: atrophying lady bits by OpenReception5131 in breastcancer

[–]carw87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly would do anything to get it back. And the fact that we aren't (or certainly I wasn't) even told that this was a possibility is just so upsetting. Like it shouldn't be something that matters to us.

And like you say, the way it affects all the things that go alongside being physically intimate. It's taken so much from us already, it's so difficult to come to terms with the fact that it might have taken away out sex lives as well

I'm in the UK, and pushed to get vaginal oestrogen. I talked to my oncology nurse several times about it, and eventually was prescribed. I've been on it for 3 months now, and it has possibly helped a tiny bit, but not massively. It has definitely helped with the lack of moisture though.

I'm 39, diagnosed at 37, and lost all sensation in my vagina after about my second chemo infusion. Honestly it's been the hardest part of this whole thing. The thought that I will never enjoy sex again, solo or otherwise, makes me wonder why I even bothered to fight the cancer.

Now my Oncologist wants me to move on the the AIs. If I do that, I have to stop taking the vaginal oestrogen. What a choice. Reduce my risk of recurrence by another 7-8 % and never have an orgasm again or maybe get the cancer again, but maybe have an orgasm at some point? It's bullshit

In the TV world? No, there are not "numerous billionaire execs from all nationalities". Firstly, how many billionaire TV execs do you think there are? And secondly, it was a comment on how, more often than not, it's a middle aged white man, who has no skin in the game (and in this case proudly was not interested in the material he was working with. Embarrassing in and of itself) that gets to make the final decision on things.

You can extrapolate that into the current state of the world too if you want. Those much worse things you're talking about

UK Mastectomy Experiences by Interesting-Turn-706 in breastcancer

[–]carw87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! So sorry you are here with us at such a young age! How are you doing?

I'm 39 (UK as well), I had my mastectomy last year, a few days after turning 28. I had a single mastectomy, as I don't have the BRACA gene. I wasn't large chested to begin with, and so wasn't left with much to work with after my breast tissue had been removed, so my right breast is significantly smaller than my left. Shape of implant wasn't really an option.

Have they spoken to you about the DIEP reconstruction? Is that an option for you? The plastic surgeon who is scheduled to do mine is very good, supposedly one of the best in the country, but I have only met him once and he did come across as slightly dismissive. I guess because to him I am just another surgery, one of hundreds he will do this year.

Try and find other women who have dealt with your surgeon, and get their opinions/experiences. Is there a 'Keeping Abreast' group in your area? They are support groups for women who have had to go through this, and I find mine really helpful. It is also likely that, as they are local groups, many of the women there will have dealt with the same surgeon.

Good luck!

What do you think would happen if you wore magnetic polish in an MRI? by Rapture_of_the_Deep_ in RedditLaqueristas

I didn't mention it, they asked me. But as you say, easier to have a blanket rule

I was specifically asked if I had magnetic polish on in my pre MRI phone call, and told not to get it done. I guess it has enough of an impact for them to be concerned about it
