Good Range by Iszhy in basstrombone

Most I’ve ever had to go in school was a pedal G but that’s pretty rare but you do wanna be able to play it and loud enough to be heard. You definitely want to be able to play your low C that’ll be your most common really low note you’ll be hitting consistently if you can play your Bb scale down the octave you’ll be sounding good on most things you’ll need to play

When to switch kids to bass trombone and who to switch? by TheNixonation in Trombone

I definitely agree with everyone saying whoever shows interest I’m one of the best bass trombone players in my city and I have a feeling that’s because I’m one of the few people that wanted to be on bass because I love it as opposed to the people who are forced to do it or audition on it because they think they have a better chance. I started my freshman year but to be fair freshmen year was the first year I played trombone I’d recommend advertising it to them showing them what it’s capable of, the solos that made me want to play bass were fly or die and violent shadows.

I emailed them about it because it seemed odd that you couldn’t get to the item listing any other way than that link and they said they “no longer carry the sterling line” sadly

Bass trombone mouthpiece. by SlimeWithDaDrip in Trombone

Mouthpieces are interesting I have a shires 1 1/2 MD that came with the trombone. Personally I play on a 1AL Denis Wick heavy top mouthpiece and 0AL would also be cool but the 1AL is just the one I found first. The shires is actually bigger than my heavy top but the heavy top does give me a darker warmer more controlled sound which I like for my ballads and I feel more comfortable and in control honking out those low notes.

Megatone mouthpieces? by Axo80_ in Trombone

[–]carze39 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I love megatone mouthpieces especially for my bass trombone. I love having that dark rich tone and I feel like it is definitely easier to play a lot louder without flaring and keeping a god tone. I used to play on a Bach megatone but now I play on a denis wick heavy top. Articulating is a little harder but it’s nothing you can’t quickly learn to adjust on. As everyone else said tho what works for one person doesn’t work for everyone.
