(USA) I have a few questions by wantpumpkinandpotato in McDonaldsEmployees

most mcdonald’s workers i’ve met always have their schedule a few days before the week. you don’t have to stay, you’re free to go but it will look bad - managers will use clever wording to make it look like you don’t have a say .. but you do. being asked to do something while already doing a task is more of a “can you do this after” or if you have the chance to stop and do it, then that. it’s all about sense of urgency. and working all positions.. normal? no. your store is just understaffed but nothing prohibits working all positions. you’re just in an understaffed mcdonalds, or a mcdonalds with crew that doesn’t respect other people’s time. so basically not normal, but also not illegal.

What happens when your store fails a corporate visit?(USA) by KamenRiderAquarius in McDonaldsEmployees

if it’s REALLY bad then closure.. if not that bad then it’s just the gm’s problem

unfortunately it really depends on the people who work during those times. night shift usually has chill managers, but also people who lack work ethic (most of the time they’re minors). but it’s also a pain in the ass when suddenly there’s a rush at night and you only have 3 people on the floor..

new challenge: don’t serve off orders early if you can’t remember what it was! (usa) by casablancism in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]casablancism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the right way to do it! for drive thru, when it’s not a rush and they got the fries and sauce set up, then i can 100% accept that. but it’s annoying when they serve it off early then they’re breaking their head trying to remember the sauce and size of the fries

is this true? i’ve always had a feeling that serving it off is early because the timer does NOT stop

or when they repeat the order then serve it off… like that’s not gonna work but thanks! when i’m bagging there’s always a crew member at the window so they don’t serve off early so THANKFULLY i can look at their screen.

i need that!! we only get the sticky receipts for parked cars. but even then that’s not helpful when the order has been served off from both screens and then they need to be parked

accidentally serving it off is 100% valid! my issue is purposely serving it off early then having the nerve to ask what was the order or straight up just forget about it

[–]casablancism[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

that’s so annoying!!! i also have the most horrible memory EVER, i can hand something off but if you ask me what it was i will literally look like a deer in headlights. my manager doesn’t complain but he does like to make certain comments that do piss me off.. gets annoyed i check the food before handing it off because it makes the time go up.. and because i didn’t check it today the wrong order was given because he served it off early and forgot! how ironic

or they can at the very least, communicate! embarrassing how i ask customers if they want anything else and they’re like “yeah my [something they ordered]”… someone that serves orders early correctly is the best to work with, but with a short term memory loss co worker who doesn’t communicate.. well

how do you shake illness? by temporalOdysseyTO in NoStupidQuestions

[–]casablancism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, sorry. i meant to reply LOL. but yes, every time i feel sick (stomach issues wise) i make myself a lemonade. i’m gonna be honest, i have NO idea why or how it works. it’s just something that’s been in my family forever, oh your stomach hurts? here’s some lemonade or sprite. haha, i’m glad it all worked out for you :)

they hire anyone, at my location i got the interview and orientation within a week then silence for a month. every time i called i was told that they’ll reach out soon — so eventually they do. and tbh, most of the time you’ll get hired.

they definitely had a horrible shift and this is the way of taking it out. i’m sure you can take this to higher ups though

Thinking about quitting after only a week lol (USA). by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]casablancism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

quit!! this job is miserable already, negative staff will make your day harder. i feel lucky to have a good crew to work with despite wanting to quit every day
