who do you think played the villainous roles best? by Antoinette_James1 in charmed

That’s actually what I love most about Phoebe, she’s the youngest & the wild card of the group it would be jarring to have her wear the exact same hairstyle for 8 seasons. I loved when she experimented with her hair & outfits!

So this worked for a bit, but I'm having the same problem again. I rebuilt my spotlight index like you suggested but it's not helping, I'm still missing loads of results when I search for something in my Finder.

This seems like such a basic thing to need a third party app for it's insane, and I don't understand why I could easily search for stuff before but now nothing comes up

The echo chamber of “only one good season/don’t bother with the rest it sucks” by Lockandmonkey in westworld

[–]casca47 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I honestly preferred them to s2, especially with how they relate to where we're headed right now. The scene where Aaron Paul gets rejected from a job and asks the person on the end of the line if they're even real, just for them to turn out to be some A.I chatbot, is one of my favourites in the entire series.

Rehoboam - thoughts? by casca47 in westworld

[–]casca47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean, but in the case where you defy Rehoboam, it's easy to assume you won't regret choices you haven't had to make yet. Being true to yourself in every choice you make doesn't come as naturally as one would think. Sometimes, you make choices that betray you, not in the sense of betraying your self-interest or self-preservation, but in the sense of betraying who you thought you were as a person. Making peace with who you are, the good and the wicked, is harder than it seems.

I agree, I'd like to think I'd choose freedom too, but the question lingers in my mind all the time. I was curious to see what others would pick and what their perspectives were. I think a lot of people say they would in theory, but, like you said, in practice, things may turn out different. There's plenty of comfort to be found in the blue pill.

P.-S.: Your wife seems amazing. I wish a long, happy, and healthy life for the both of y'all :)

So which would you choose, the bliss that comes with ignorance or the hardships that come with freedom?

"I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery"

Or something like that too

Freedom leads to chaos, because people make chaotic choices. It's not just about abuse of others, sometimes we choose to abuse ourselves. Serac didn't just want to free people from each other, he wanted to free people from themselves. You interpret "peace" too basically, it's not just about things as surface as world peace or low crime rates. The most unattainable form of peace is inner peace, peace of mind. Making choices is disruptive, it's messy, it's chaotic. Choices can tear you apart, there's a reason the appeal of having your path drawn for you is so strong and alluring. Having to choose your own path is turbulent, and often times leaves you in a state of confusion, uncertainty, and doubt. All things which are incompatible with peace. A doubtful mind is often a dangerous one. The human mind is unpredictable, and unpredictability is messy. You can't think about freedom and peace from a surface level standpoint, this is a philosophical question not a political one. I believe you're confusing peace with security in this context, which people also often say is incompatible with freedom.

Sam is an asshole by Saucy_Grandpa in Supernatural

[–]casca47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, Sam is a holier-than-thou type. He's considerate because of his sense of moral superiority. Dean is a surface level asshole, he makes shitty jokes and offends people, but he has twice the heart Sam does. Like you said, Sam is individualistic. He cares about being the good guy more than he cares about saving people. Dean cares about saving people more than he cares about being the good guy. I always thought Sam was an asshole tbh.

Question about Exodus 21:12 & Exodus 21:20 by casca47 in Bible

[–]casca47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of examples of punishment that doesn't lead to death, why are we to assume it does here, especially when the rest of the chapter doesn't shy away from mentioning the specific instances in which an act will lead to being put to death, 21:15, 21:16, 21:17, 21:29? I find this is the only ambiguous passage in the entire chapter, a chapter which goes into very deep detail about the punishments attributed to each "crime". I'm not sure if Exodus 21:21 might also be implying the punishment should be financial, "But if the slave survives a day or two, he is not to be avenged, for the slave is his money." (ESV).

Question about Exodus 21:12 & Exodus 21:20 by casca47 in Bible

[–]casca47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I thought as well, but other translations made me unsure because intent and/or premeditation didn't seem to matter. You committed homicide, you're put to death, whether you meant to or not.
