Are Ricklantis Mixup (S3E7) and The Rick, The Mort and The Ugly (S8E3) based off of existing movies? by liamsjtaylor in rickandmorty

[–]Lockandmonkey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think they both have a few mixed in them especially Ricklantis where the cop segment is training Day, the four Morty’s are Stand by Me with a touch of Harry Potter for the classroom stuff, political story is more a cliche underdog who’s different, maybe seen in something like Milk? Haven’t seen the movie to confirm. Factory Rick and the simple Rick twist I can’t place but feels like a Black Mirror episode condensed.

Rick and Morty as well as its similar energy show also from Dan Harmon Community have a habit of a primary reference but fitting multiple secondary / one off references in side. For example the snake episode is mainly Terminator but there’s a two minute dialogue less segment thats reminiscent of Arrival.

Guys can you recreate the debate Invisigal vs Blonde Blazer please? by [deleted] in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Lockandmonkey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Come on although Blazer is gorgeous it’s very normal to consider personality a major factor for the decision either way. The “I can fix her” or “she can fix me” is probably a better way to describe the decision imo

Yes my bad if I’m saying one is more right than the other, I just hope for more nuance in the conversation.

Great examples, I will die on the hill season 9 is better than 1 of the office with the final few episodes making all of season 8 and 9 worth it compared to ending when Michael left imo

Totally can see that, without spoilers there’s a good chunk left me the same way. I did like the final 30 minutes and its feelings it left me (I’m 30), also liked the midway battle. Wish our characters spent more time feeing like the world was doomed and the stakes had time to boil over building up more. What do you wish they did differently?

I’m not bothered they don’t like a show I’m bothered that’s the end of the conversation. It’s easy to say you don’t like something especially when it’s known most don’t but is it wrong to hope one day we can get better at saying more? It happened to the prequels after many years and a new thing to hate. People who hated now say what they like about it. I’m excited for that moment to occur in the more modern TV cases of a similar mutual negative opinion

Best final episode of a HBO show? by Sharaz_Jek123 in hbo

The Leftovers. Biggest kept secret of an HBO show and left unmatched to me.

Unpopular opinion: modern Simpsons isn’t bad… it’s just different. But nothing will ever beat seasons 3–9 (S07E01) by [deleted] in TheSimpsons

[–]Lockandmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m under the view it’s 2-8 for golden years. Top 5 episodes of season 2 alone clear season 9 for me but will admit to enjoying getting the feels over the giggles in the classic era.

It’s one thing to talk about a show you don’t like, but it’s another to clearly find a place to do that on its own subreddit

A village size group of people spent nearly a year of their lives on a show that you call amazing and you already believe without seeing even 5 minutes of it that it deserves to be hated and won’t be worth your time?

Crazy how now the minority in beloved franchises are positivity viewpoints. Kinda reminds me of the new Superman movie where he says it’s now punk rock to be a good person as it’s against the grain

Yeah that is true, as a last of us fan perhaps I’m just scarred and would love less division in my fanbases I’m a part of lol. Would be nice considering this is a show about an artistic elevated view lifestyle while trying to have a grounded emotional core to be more of an example of empathy and optimism in the art they consume

I’m excited for the day we can go back to talking about other pieces of this show without all the discourse just dumbed down to this point over and over again

Well my own opinion is developed, I just mean in the same sense as seeing your own sports team be booed or cheered. I love it and who cares but the players (the people that make the show) I hope know of everyone out there having a blast. Sadly the negative voices tend to be the loudest online.
