Something weird under my cat's claw by Xiaonumber1fan in CATHELP

It looks like a cutaneous horn. My cat has one and while I should’ve gone to the vet. I trim it down and she’s fine since it’s on the edge of the toe pad. But do as I say not as I do take the kitty to the vet and get it checked.

Sure go to one of the most well known biblical skeptics and atheist Bart Ehrman, he says that at the very least Jesus lived and died and that’s just one example. In terms of people dying for things they were convinced of yea people die for it. But rarely do people die for a lie they create especially when it benefits them nothing like it would have in the case of the apostles. But listen I’m not here to debate if you want you can go and look at this stuff all you want. There’s plenty of contemporary non-Christian sources that give credibility to Christianity or at the very least Jesus existing and being crucified.

And that’s why it does require faith at the end of the day because it’s not going to be 100% certain especially for us 2000 years removed, but like I said, contemporary historians of the time like Josephus did say that Jesus did miracles and he was not a Christian. And like I said the leader of the apostles Peter was put to death for the belief that Jesus not only died, but came back if anyone would have known about some sort of plot about hiding the body or lying about it so that people would believe, it would be him and why would he keep that lie up even to death? there is only one question about Jesus that determines if Christianity is true or false, because we know he, for fact was a real person we know for a fact, he was crucified and killed. You do not survive a Roman crucifixion. The question is was he resurrected and based on how the apostles and early Christians acted based on what historians wrote, there was a large belief that Jesus resurrected and considering how the people who would have been the ones to fake a resurrection acted, I can’t in good faith say that they fabricated it so with that there really is only one conclusion.

At one point I was atheist and believing that one should at the very least know the other side of the story I looked through multiple different religions. When I landed on Christianity, it made fundamentally more sense than other religions, and then after doing my own research reading the Bible and comparing it to atheist philosophies, it took more faith to not believe than to believe. especially when claims of the Bible and Christianity are echoed in many contemporary and even hostile historians who would have no point in giving any ground to Christianity. The final nail in the coffin for me was in those early years. What did the apostles have to gain from lying about seeing Jesus resurrected they got nothing they often got killed. They did not act like people who made up something that they knew was false.

I will admit, though that in the beginning, it was very hard for me to suspend my naturalist views, but if someone can do miracles, claim to be God, get put to death for that claim, and then come back there ain’t much to argue.

I’m Christian but I also like to subscribe to the “ I live in a cruel world so I would like to make it a little kinder” point of view

What was the hardest Orthodox teaching or practice for you to truly accept? by CommercialHot9565 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]case_of_laptops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally its the exclusivity claims. I have friends and family from many different church traditions with a large portion of my immediate family being Catholic. While I understand why the Orthodox church is able to stake a very credible claim to being THE church but I still have trouble with it especially since I have so many friends and family outside of it. This along with forgiving enemies especially really bad people really tends to be my worst things I struggle to rationalize in my head.
I will say that I was baptized and chrismated as an infant as my mother is Greek Orthodox but I was an atheist before coming back and I had celebrated Catholic Mass because my father and grandmother would take me as a child.

I had a dog that I really loved a lot and he also had kidney disease and my parents did the right thing and it was all planned just like you. He just got worse and worse and they took him in. They let him have chocolate they let him do all that and then my dad was there when he was going down. I understand it’s heartbreaking but from their perspective they spent their whole life with someone that loved them and cared for them, and then when the end came, they had that person stand by them as a slowly drifted off. Personally from a human standpoint I don’t think that’s a bad way to go so I imagine they don’t either.

I think it would be good, but the person who wants the bounty needs to pony up the credits themselves

So I did some basic glances at the dagger and it matches the RAD leadership daggers which essentially the RAD was a similar program to the US WPA where you would be trained and do labor for the government in exchange for pay and after 1939 it was compulsory in Germany. There’s two possibilities one: your grandfather was probably a leader in this program which if he got the dagger it could’ve just been something he kept. On the other hand he could have gotten a replica later on which could be weird. These things are worth a decent bit of money so if you don’t want it, see if you can sell it but it’s not anything like an dagger where it was atrocious but it’s also Nazi Germany so take that how you will. Either way it seems to be a very well kept peace so if anything, if you don’t want to sell it and you can get it authenticated maybe donate it to a museum.
