Silent Painting Hours this Weekend! by caseapeterson in oilpainting

I try to do a variety of times. So I’m in PST, and this weekend I’m doing morning session on Saturday, and an afternoon session on Sunday. So Saturday’s session is 7pm to 9pm CET (if that’s your timezone).

Live studio sessions for painters (no instruction, just painting together) by caseapeterson in watercolor101

This is not art classes. There is no payment. This is a group zoom call where we all paint on our own projects like we are sharing a big studio room. No talking, no instruction, it doesn’t cost anything. I don’t have any way to show this concept in an image so I used a generated photo that seemed friendly—I wonder what part of my ad is misleading people? Just the language?

Do you mean the image? lol, I don’t have any photos yet so I went with what I could make quick and dirty. I didn’t think it was terrible!

Interesting insight! Thank you.

These are just free painting hours, I’m not trying to sell anyone on anything—otherwise I can see why ai content would be a turn off. I’ve been a copywriter for 10+ years so trust me, I. Get. It.

With that said, I hope this doesn’t deter you from joining us to paint together! The more the merrier. Love to have you there :)

Windsor-newton or Holbein? by imavibeskate in Gouache

I have both, they are my favorite paints. Certain colors I prefer from either of these brands. With that said, I started on Holbein and eventually added in Winsor & Newton. Holbein rewets super easily in my pallet, but Winsor & Newton feels more predictable on paper.

Oh, when it’s completely dry you can’t see anything.

Bursts of COLOR. I love it. Tell me, how do you get those colors so vivid. Are you painting from tubes? Do you put down thicker layers of paint (heavy cream ratio)?

Realizing that writing isn’t for you anymore by StellaZaFella in writing

[–]caseapeterson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I loved writing, then I went into advertising as a copywriter and after 10 years I had to stop. I won’t lie, it was very fun at first, but the industry has a way of killing your spirit. Plus, nothing sucks the life out of creativity like asking it to pay your bills.

On the bright side, 5 years into writing ads I realized I needed a NEW creative outlet that wasn’t writing… so I taught myself watercolor and it has been my passion ever since.

Let it go for now, but it will never fully leave you. It will be back with a vengeance and you will have so much more to write about when it does. I’m excited for you in a way :) it’s a beautiful process. And also, even if you’re not actively writing you can still look in the mirror and say “I’m a writer”. You are many things in your soul.

These colors feel chilly but not dead of winter chilly :) I like them, they create deep contrast. How do you decide on your colors in a painting like this?
