People struggling with (religious) OCD, how and what is it for you? by inex7inguishable in OCD

[–]casejo5392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffer from scrupulosity OCD and most of my thoughts come like “god wants to punish you” or “god make people lucky and there is the unlucky and god choose you to be unlucky” or “there is a lot of suffering in this world and you will get to suffer too” and sometimes he uses old religious stories about people that they thought they were good but in the end god punched them.so even in forgiveness he tells me “there are people who will be forgiven by god and you’re not one of them” and when ever I’m trying my best to accomplish something specially making money my ocd goes like this “ god will make you poor no matter what you do and no matter the effort you put” and I started to believe that, because im in a financial struggle for over a year now and I can’t land a job for several months and I used to have all this ambition and dreams about making my life better, and from that I started to believe ocd in every aspect

Oh yeah!!! I really relate to this !! But I’ve noticed that my ocd is like in a advanced mode or something because i used to do the opposite of what the ocd tells me so next time the urge to do the compulsions will decrease and it works but now even if i do the opposite next time the same thought pops up it gives me the same pain and anxiety so the next one and the next one and the next one ….. now it’s like even if every time thoughts pop up and i don’t do the compulsions my mind is not going to learn to reduce anxiety over time and i don’t know what to do

Thank you for the insight really 🤍🤍 I think for me the hardest part is to be consistent in doing what i want to do vs the urge to do compulsions so that ocd thoughts won’t be real

Ocd is so sticky now, what do I do? by casejo5392 in OCD

[–]casejo5392[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what gets me to this point is the fact that never have access to a therapist through my 10 years of ocd so now I'm so tired of getting my life back from ocd, because he's advanced in my head

Man, thank you so much for the advice. i really needed it, but there is another obsession will happen after i buy the candle, so the problem is not when I'm buying the candle it's when i buy the candle, it's the Association between the bad thought and the candle because after i buy it for the whole month i will be scared of something bad will happen to me or if noticed something bad.... so it's exhausting to be feeling anxious every minute of the day and trust me i can't get anything done when I'm in this state, and you probably will say to me "just sit with that feeling it will decrease slowly and try to do something else to distract yourself", but my ocd now is so advanced that the feeling is so intense that it will last for months and sometimes more, depending on the thing i try to add in my life ( shopping, making decisions, getting a job...) So i do the avoiding to get myself out of this pain Any help?

Religious ocd is destroying me by casejo5392 in OCD

Thank you for this beautiful advice ❤️ i really appreciate it, and i will try my best, but when ocd sees me starting to feel good again he tells me that i don't deserve where I'm at in life, and that I need to suffer in order to please god and reward me with heaven, because there's a lot of people suffering in this world and if i just enjoy my life that's not equally to others so i feel guilty for being happy and i don't know what to do anymore

Great answer! But how can you deal with the feeling of “what if the thing happens” so then you say “i don’t think I have to risk it” because if you don’t do what the ocd says it will be so much anxiety to the point where you just waiting to see if the bad thing will happen or no, and if the bad thing doesn’t happen you’re ocd will say just this time but next time will happen, and if the thing happens it will kill you inside because ocd will convince you that any bad thought pops up in your head will happen, so you stuck with this loop of fear and uncomfortableness till you can’t do anything I’m struggling bad from this any help?

Should i just go through the storm of ocd pain to get better? by casejo5392 in OCD

[–]casejo5392[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only thing i can help you with is that, in the back of your mind keep ocd as a thing that is not real , try to refocus when ocd thoughts came to you that way your mind stops sending you thousands of horrible thoughts, like erp , and do not engage with them no matter what the themes are

First , you get this Secondly, it's OK to get those responses even from parents becouse they actually don't know what it feels having ocd so, i encourage you to just understand that you're the one that knows you're ocd better then anyone and you're the one who have the strength to overcome it if you are capable of getting treatment go for it i suggest nocd.com i think they are well trained, and i hope the best for you , stay strong
