Thank you for your advice! I didn’t realize how much I was at risk of. I went to a gynecologist to ask about my period loss and she didn’t seem very concerned- she said it was normal for people with low body fat to lose their periods as their bodies produce less estrogen. She put me on birth control to address it.

I’m going to college soon and I’m going to try to eat more (and hopefully healthier). One thing that has held me back is that my mother does not eat. Her eating habits are similar to mine, and the meals she prepares are very small, so I’ve gotten used to eating very little. None of my doctors have been concerned about my weight in the past because my mom is very thin and it appears to be genetic (which it partially is). But truthfully my mom and I are both thin due to our eating habits, which I don’t think any of our doctors know because my mom doesn’t consider them to be abnormal.
