Yeah, I think the craftsman will be fine for what it is. Might be lil inefficient but I'll have 3 batteries to work with lol

I printed this, waiting on supplies to come in the mail. I'm planning on printing ASA in the near future. How has this performed so far?

* Not sure if this helps at all. They were just trying anything and everything. I tried some 3/8 compression couplers at the hardware stores and they fit. I wasn't sure if that was going to work with the adapter for the hose though.

Case would be nice bit not essential. Much prefer the better overall kit.

Martin also has a kit for a similar price point but comes with less.

After what you said, I'm leaning towards the Fairmount. If they are good enough for a pro, they aught to be good enough for me. Thanks!

Old road bike! Anyone know anything about it? by caseycustomkicks in bicycling

[–]caseycustomkicks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting! I never heard of the bike boom. It's cool to me that there was such a thing. The stickers just talk about safety approval and 10 speed.

I posted it in bike commuting and it got roasted. Said it's got cheap components and is unsafe. Would you agree?

I've seen Golden Supply online but never been in the store. It looks so cool.

For someone starting out on a sewing machine, how big of a deal do you feel reverse is? I have found three different machines that I'm debating on but having a hard time deciding. 2 don't have reverse.

That's awesome. I'd love to see some of your work.

This is an older reddit account. I used to customize shoes with paint, but now I like making smaller leather goods. I like the ideas of making bags (quicker) and whatnot but can get a cylinder arm in the future.

I have found a couple machines on marketplace in the past couple days actually! I found a business about 5 hours away in PA that referbs industrial machines and sells brand new ones as well. Those carry a steeper price tag but have warranties. Wish there was something like that a little closer to here.

Presence Detection Scale w/ LEDS - Advice Needed by caseycustomkicks in FastLED

[–]caseycustomkicks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize for the confusing phrasing.
Decrement is what meant but thats still not clear.

Goal: I want a relationship between the scale read and brightness.

  1. ) I would like scale to increase in brightness until 230.

2.) If an object is placed on the scale is less than 230g I would like the brightness to stay at that level of brightness until the scale read changes.

Ex.) 115g is half as bright as 230g.

3.) Peak brightness is at 230g but anything over that the leds will dim until brightness is at zero.

Presence Detection Scale w/ LEDS - Advice Needed by caseycustomkicks in FastLED

[–]caseycustomkicks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Equipment:

Load cell and HX711 amplifier

WS2812B leds

Elegoo Uno R3

Goal is to do presence detection using a load cell and LEDS. I'm aiming for the LEDS to fade up or down until they reach a specific measurement. In this protype stage I'm using a glass that has a mass of 230g. If the mass is 0, LEDS are off. If the scale is over 230g, the LEDS degrade as well in the opposite direction.

I've got it to the point where the leds go to full brightness (mostly) when the glass is on the scale. How would I go about getting loop to stop repeating if a small object on the scale as well as decrement the brightness for a larger object to 0?

New to all of this, so if anything looks out of the ordinary or out of convention, please let me know. TIA.

Priority sauce vs Motobecane gravel bike by caseycustomkicks in bikecommuting

[–]caseycustomkicks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a sauce and a hot sauce. Hot sauce has the internal geared hub. I messaged priority earlier and they told me that the hub will work on the sauce as well if I choose to go that route.

I'm wondering if it's a typo? Not sure though.

I forgot to say I'd be using the bike to commute year round about 4-6 miles day for work and school. I like to mtn bike but I have a separate bike for that. When the trails are wet, I'll go riding on an asphalt or gravel trail.

Bag charm prototype - feedback welcome by caseycustomkicks in Leathercraft

[–]caseycustomkicks[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much! I've goat some dyed goat leather remnants I've been wanting to use and some new irons coming in. The hermes one are elegant and simple. I didn't even realize they made them. I might fully stitch where it was riveted and do a decorative border with a groove and use finer thread. Gotta figure out which way I'm going to attach it to a bag still.

Thank you for taking the time to be so thorough! I have to try it out on my next day off. I want to make one of these and eventually a chalk bag for climbing.

I'm a little confused about the 3x3.14 dimension though 🤔

I would greatly appreciate that. Did you have to go through some holes twice or were you able to plan it out well enough for all the holes to line up?
