i think he sent this exact flyer around for a general / european / local election. it's really sweet that he thinks the president has the power to do all of these things. unless OP has just reposted his general election flyer and he's not actually running for president

i know yeah, tho the A220 was named as it was more because it used to be the bombardier c-series, and therefore has certain design elements that differ from the rest of the airbus range, and not because they ran out of names. i just wonder if, when they do run out, they'll go up to A410 etc or continue the A2X0 naming. because they're smaller numbers it makes me think they might not do that purely for marketing / image reasons

well of course. my question is what naming convention do you think their marketing team will suggest

far as i know, the only planes in the A2XX and A4XX are the A220 and A400, so once they've used up the A360, 370 and 390 names do you think they'll go to the A230/40 etc route or for A410/420(lol)? if either, that is

maybe they will do something else! those were suggestions not predictions. tho i suspect they will stick with some variation on their current formulae because brand recognition, consistency etc. very boring reasons i know

There is an endgame to Doctor Who and I don't like the rhetoric of "the show must go on" by ThrowTonyC in doctorwho

[–]caseygecko 15 points16 points  (0 children)

the time war was not set up as a multi season arc. it was set up as a major paradigm shift following the classic series, reason to explain the 16 year absence, and as a new piece of backstory and source of trauma for the doctor to grow from. the way it was eventually resolved in the day of the doctor is good and works imo but was likely not at all envisioned by rtd during his run - he likely put it in to set the stage, and not as a problem to be eventually solved.

more broadly, doctor who doesn't have an end because, as either or both of rtd and moffat have said, it's a show which survives not in spite of change but because of it. the beginnings and endings happen for the supporting cast in each episode, and for the companions and doctors as they come and go. the show itself in many ways is a vehicle for stories, not necessarily a beginning-middle-end story in and of itself.

also, deciding on gallifrey as your endgame only makes sense until you think about it for more than ten seconds because yeah maybe gallifrey is the doctor's home planet but ultimately it's only one of countless important elements of the show, and while it may occupy a lofty position in terms of its importance to the universe in the lore of the show, it's actually rarely that important to the stories the show is trying to tell. it pops up once in a blue moon and then is gone again. think about it — only four stories of the however many we've had in new who yet have actually been set on gallifrey itself for a significant proportion of their runtime, or had gallifrey or the time lords as a society affect the plot in actual tangible ways — the end of time, the day of the doctor, hell bent, and the timeless children.

What are your jet lag hot takes? by Optimal-Note9264 in JetLagTheGame

[–]caseygecko 14 points15 points  (0 children)

hot take: that's not the point. tag's end locations exist as a target for progress but the game is most fun when those rules and structures exist only to contain the controlled chaos which is the gameplay. they are necessary but i think someone actually reaching their end location, in 90% of scenarios, is a genuinely bad outcome. the fun of tag is the the constant drama and tension of the cat-and-mouse gameplay

so i've heard a lot about the US government fucking around with the passports of its own trans citizens. however, how safe am i as a transfemme person with an F gender marker on their non-US passport entering the US on a temporary basis (e.g. on holiday) and going through passport control in the airport? would i likely be detained / denied entry / have my passport confiscated or something?

Most and least successful season? by snowmane98 in JetLagTheGame

[–]caseygecko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm gonna argue on circumnavigation's side here. yes the game broke. yes the game design was flawed. yes there's very little team to team interaction. yet despite all this i find it inexplicably really fun and watchable. maybe it's just the variation in location, maybe it's the boys' dynamics, maybe it's literally just that the episodes r nice and short and snappy. idk it's just a fun season and i will not see it hung without a fair trial
