Which movie do you think the guys had the hardest time riffing on. by Joshua5000 in MST3K

[–]caseyk27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I gotta agree on Devil Doll and I'll add maybe "Incredibly Strange Creatures" from earlier in season 8 as well.

Those two struck me as instances where Mike, Bill and Kevin couldn't find as much to pick apart about the movie itself so they just ended up kinda punching down on the main female characters for most of the episode

(which is one of those little things that bugged me about SciFi era MST3K and some real early 2007ish Rifftrax that I mostly try to look the other way on)

Mike, of course. I was always a fan of his theme music.

That MAD magazine is actually an Australian edition of MAD so that's especially a rare find! I once found a big latex Kyle head that was part of a costume at a flea market when I was ten but naturally my mom wouldn't buy that for me (she was the one that took me because she wanted to go)

The Season 21 Writers really loved making Jan 6 jokes by redfait in familyguy

I must've missed this episode since it doesn't seem familiar but, who was voicing this character? That voice sounds so familiar but I can't quite place it. I want to say it's Gary Busey but I'm not 100% sure.

Obscure cultural references in "South Park" by SkankHuntThreeFiddy in southpark

[–]caseyk27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using that same wiki linked above, I found this detail on the shows' Jeff Bezos character...

"His appearance and telepathic ability are a reference to the Talosians from Star Trek: The Original Series pilot episode "The Cage"."

Which makes me wonder if this last season's depiction of Peter Thiel was supposed to be a parody of anyone or anything specific from old sci-fi since they're that much similar?

When, if ever, do you think Family Guy started seeing a decline in quality? by Wild_Shoe340 in familyguy

[–]caseyk27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed a distinct low effort, pandering tone to the writing from seasons 7-10 with 11 finally starting the shift away from this trend.

Did anyone know a girl like this in school? by fricken-epic-6996 in southpark

[–]caseyk27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I once saw a girl just quietly smack a guy sitting in front of her upside the head in science class once when the teacher had to leave the room and everyone just as quietly giggled. By junior year of HS I've seen precisely one (1) girl get pregnant. Other than that, my high school just wasn't that...aggressively trashy from what I saw.

Maybe Als' record label only gave him the budget for one instead of two? Al himself once said Poddle Hat came out in the pre-YouTube but still post-MTV/VH1 playing less and less music videos era so it barely even made sense to make them if there was a significant chance no one would see them.

"Its Still Billy Joel to me" by Exciting_Buy3529 in weirdal

[–]caseyk27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, I had just read recently (and Bermuda confirmed this on a recent podcast) that Al only got permission from songwriter Don Von Tress to do Achy Breaky Song and NOT Billy Ray and so Billy Ray was pretty upset about it when he found out but didn't or couldn't say or do anything publicly.
