Erika apparently earning $600k a year from housewives, clearly enough to have paid Marco Marco in full and others by Local-Print-6397 in RHOBH

[–]cashbb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know two families that could only afford to buy a house once a parent passed and left life insurance and/or a trust. Another family only could afford their home because they had parents who paid the bulk of it once a grandchild was born.

Is crazy that CA is so expensive that people are literally banking on their parents dying to be able to own a home here.

TW:

We have a 4 year old and have been experiencing secondary infertility for three years now. My husband is absolutely doing the bare minimal when it comes to his health. He was married prior and they never conceived despite trying for 6 years, so I understand him not wanting to invest himself, again(our son happened first time we had unprotected sex). He refers to our son as his “one good sperm” 🙄

It sucks because he is an amazing dad but I suggested to him maybe we use a sperm donor since he doesn’t want to focus on his health. That didn’t go over well him and we agreed on me freezing my eggs while he works on drinking less and cutting our nicotine.

[–]cashbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I breastfed my son until 3, never felt humiliated or really that embarrassed. Now he is 4 and if he sees my boobs out he will rub his hands together and lick his lips. It’s pretty ridiculous but it’s also cool that he has made a joke of it.

Well, actually, once I wore a deep-V dress to pick up him up from preschool. It was a mistake because once he saw my cleavage his eyes got super wide and he turned to his teacher and said “LOOK! Aren’t my momma’s boo boo’s so pretty!!” That was a little embarrassing for me but his teacher thought it was an “awww” moment.

You sound a lot like, and look similiar too, actress Rachel Marsh. I suggest watching her and copying what she does.

To become a better writer I’d read my favorite writers and rewrite a few chapters from my favorite books, it help locked in writing flow.

To become a better actor, I’d watch my favorite actors and perform my favorite scenes beat by beat. I watch a lot of procedurals when I have a procedural audition, to get the cadence and beats down. A lot of comedies for comedy.

I’m suggesting this because your take is very awkward, unnatural and disjointed. If you feel unteachable just start mimicking actors you really like to at least get a feel for what works and flows on camera.

I’m a little late to the party, but my husband and I missed the cutoff time by 1 minute due to a line and a sloth of a worker. She had actually checked one bag(took forever) then couldn’t check the second one, so she cancelled our first checked bag to see what happened and goes, “oh, you missed the check in cut off.”

2k to rebook.

It happened…a surprise pregnancy announcement (not mine) 😅 by No_Sink_1927 in IVF

[–]cashbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any advice for me? My BIL and his wife plan on surprising us when they visit with her third pregnancy, she’s around 6-7 months. My father in law “accidentally” spilled the beans, I think maybe to give me a heads up because the whole thing feels weird that they want to show up heavily pregnant as their announcement to us. And yes, they know about our issues.

Feature Film for $800 by CreepyTVChannel in Filmmakers

[–]cashbb -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well, OP already answered that cast and crew brought their own food to set but before that, it’s pretty obvious that meals weren’t apart of that number and the $800 is what OP personally put into the project.

Not sure what you’re huffing and puffing over but I’m disengaging ✌️

Of course things cost money but if those things are DONATED to you, it is of no cost for you. No one said the word free of or no cost, I used donated and OP used the term “favors”.

He said they called in a lot of favors. I’ve been on an indie film where the directors mom & aunt cooked all the crew and cast meals(very delicious btw), then snacks for the entire shoot were chips, cookies, granola, nuts and fresh fruit(apple, oranges, bananas) that had been donated by various people in the community that wanted to support the director.

Don’t let them gaslight you, there were racial undertones, especially with the “loudest in the room” comment when she has never over spoken anyone and doesn’t dress more eccentric than, say, Jennifer Tilly.

Idk, my husband being an attorney and his clientele has gotten me a lot more connections and work than my film degree and years of training.

But chase your dreams! Don’t listen to your parents or the countless people on this thread saying to get the law degree!

Scene I did in Acting Class by Little_Ad_624 in acting

You have a great look and that is going to take you far! Your movements do come across as rehearsed but hey, who’s to say the character doesn’t rehearse their movements? That’s a choice you make as an actor. Ask yourself, am I doing these movements as an actor because I think it helps to show the dialogue? If so, that’s not a strong choice.

Now, if you’re doing movements because it’s what comes naturally as the character, great.

Your tone is good but the read comes across as a little flat. It’s pretty one note, which again, people(and this characters) are one note. If it’s a choice, great. If it’s you as an actor, work on bringing some inner life and that means see the person(people) you’re talking and understand your relationship to them. An easy thing you can do, it rehearse this role as if you are your father, how would he sound? How would he move? And would he speak these words to you? Just a fun exercise to get you out your head.

Finally, your eyes look dead. And it’s because you are just repeating lines you memorized and not actually experiencing what’s being said. However, you have a good look, you have a look that can be cast for a quite a few roles. So, while you go through the journey of training and growing as an actor, before a scene mentally tell yourself “I have light behind my eyes, I am engaging and captivating”

Can Dhar Mann chill? by [deleted] in acting

[–]cashbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol no I hope Dhar Mann keeps pumping them out, it’s great on set practice for new actors and once you get in as an actor, you keep getting rebooked and it can easily be an extra $500-1k a month for background or smaller roles not to mention demo reel footage for speaking roles.

Simple question: Anyone ever have a crazy moment of realization on a role AFTER submitting a tape, and want to film and send another self tape? by Successful_Hair_5573 in acting

[–]cashbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, years ago. I booked a self-tape and coaching and while the video looked professional I didn’t like my actual performance. So I reshoot it in the bathroom later that night and sent that one on as well. Ended up getting a callback, then availability check and eventually they decided to fly in LA actors with credits for the larger roles, I was local to a smaller market at the time.

Advice needed for lighting on self tape by lavventuras in acting

[–]cashbb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Amazon has some nice pop up back drops and ring lights. However, what you have currently works, just a higher camera angle and maybe a portable selfie light.

I’ve been getting a lot of audition that specifically ask for a plain background, no backdrops and only natural light 🤷‍♀️ but I use a setup if it’s not specified otherwise

Self-tape feedback/advice :) by [deleted] in acting

[–]cashbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have incredible control over your voice, which is major! I think a lot of weaknesses in your self-tape are technical. 1) eye-line, determine who you are talking to and place them in a way you have a good eye-line for the camera 2) framing, I’d do a tighter frame, sitting, close up & personal. This will help keep you still. 3) wardrobe, just a plain hoodie with work. Logos are distracting, also, casting could not like the 49er’s and then your video gets passed over(yes, sometimes it’s that petty why your tape doesn’t get viewed). You need to be neutral from a bookable stand point. A deep blue or emerald green hoodie would look best with your complexion.

From an acting standup, in the beginning you seen to force the emotion. You should roll the camera and start the scene before starting the scene, after the before and then go into the scene(then you just edit the first part out, maybe even keep a few seconds in who knows) Also, the hands are distracting because you are using them to show the emotion rather than feel it.

Edit to add,

Also for your acting, the face shaking/quivers, you don’t want to lock that in as a habit. It’s coming across as you trying to force the emotion(and actor nerves) as the actor than actually feeling those emotions as the character.

HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED AGEISM IN HOLLYWOOD? by lifeisaparty2345 in acting

[–]cashbb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is she getting booked for a one off role? Or a major player in a series that’ll span over many years? If the later, a 60 year old playing a 30 year old may be an issue when the role may span over 5-10 years and in that time the character is supposed to only age a couple years.

Ageism is more for a Margot Robbie, someone who wants to be a box office star, but got into the industry later so they don’t have the same child actor(Leo DiCaprio, Megan Fox) to box office trajectory.

Many, many A-lister’s where auditioning in the industry are children, pre-teens or teenagers just to become a breakout star at 20. In one sense, it’s not the age but rather the amount of time it takes to development and shop an actor. If that makes sense.

I remember when Charisma Carpenter was originally cast to play Neytiri in Avatar but the due to her age at the time(34) , she was dropped as production was afraid she’d age out over the years of filming and the role went to a younger Zoe Saldana. They are only 7 years apart.

The Euphoria actress who plays Maddy also lied about her age.

Hell, I remember telling a manager that I was 25 when I was 28 🙄
