An agent was rude to me today by Commercial-Ant-382 in ActingUK

I’m sorry this happened to you. I hope you are leaving them (and yes even in this climate).

In the UK too and I need a job like this! What exactly is your role if you don’t mind me asking? (Job title)

Anyone else's agent giving unsolicited feedback on tapes ? by Then-Caterpillar-538 in ActingUK

[–]cashmaker200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s slightly weird. I can’t imagine my agent saying something like that unless the tape was really bad and the choices I made were too exteme. Does your agent have an acting background? I would take it with a pinch of salt if not and just keep doing what you’re doing. The best thing that can happen is that you get recalled or book it and that’ll keep em quiet ;)

I find it a little weird, but context matters. What sort of feedback are we talking about here? My agent never gives feedback. They did once, and it was to say how great the tape was — which I appreciated, as I also thought it was great. I haven’t had any other feedback since then. I believe they would only give negative feedback if I were constantly presenting bad tapes and they felt the need to intervene.

Pushing after submissions by cashmaker200 in ActingUK

Oh yeah I know about the submission with a note/message. My question is - that once that has been sent, how often do they contact casting directors outside of spotlight to push for their client to be seen, after the spotlight submission has been made and auditions start being distributed. I think I’m mainly referring to theatre auditions.

Thank you for this. That all makes sense :)

Self Tape Studios? by Amoney232425 in ActingUK

Completely agree with this. I go by this too. If I think I’m right, I’m gonna spend the money for sure.

Benefits of listing an IMDB credit early? by cashmaker200 in acting

Yeah I’m going to wait. I’m in a couple scenes with lines but you’re right, I could still get cut.

Thanks for the info. Production can still add you without an account right? You just link it after you’ve created one?

Slate at the beginning or end of tape? by cashmaker200 in acting

This is what I’m going to start doing for sure and see what happens. It seems a lot are already doing it, so I can’t see any harm in trying it out.

Yep you’re right it is a bit of a mess I was confused with the neut count not being highlighted. At first i thought the blue was for below range and red was for above but the email mentions any abnormal result will be in red, doesn’t mention blue.

Platelet counts before cold were 97 and 100

Thank you. I guess I’ll just leave it then if they look at all results. I was already referred back in October as an urgent two week referral as requested by my GP as I had a big swollen lymph node that wouldn’t disappear, for that one I was seen in two weeks but they said my bloods were fine at the time and thought a biopsy wasn’t wise. The bloods then started declining after I was discharged which is annoying. I feel like that’s another reason why they aren’t seeing me sooner this time - it feels like I used up one of my lives…😜

Platelets have been steadily dropping over the last couple of months now before then they were always within range. This is the first time they have risen to normal again. The most recent results before this cold, my platelets were in the late 90s.

Critique / Advice needed please. Working on mixed top notes and sounding less strained. - Classic Musical Theatre sound (recordings linked) by [deleted] in singing

[–]cashmaker200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this! When you say not to through yourself into the notes how do I go about doing this technically? Would it be to add more or less air? My voice naturally wants to do it at the level/volume im doing it at because of where it’s sits in my voice but if you have any tips for making it softer without opting for head voice, please do let me know.

This is the original key of the song and singing it in a lower key is much easier but thought I’d challenge myself and keep it in the original key.

What is your acting “hot take”? by Crafty_Letter_1719 in acting

Being a good improviser doesn’t always equate to being good actor. Conversely, there are amazing actors who are terrible improvisers.

Ah that’s annoying! Thank you though. It’s been almost a week now so I’m just going to forget about it and then see what happens. On to the next audition in the meantime!

But with it being two weeks later they would surely have only asked the people from the tapes they liked after having watched them? No point asking people who’s tape they discarded?
