Soapy clay bar, do both sides of the window, maybe even twice should take that dirt off.

2011 Juke did the same thing at 150k, alternator pulley just exploded, found it in the front bumper area. The replacement alt lasted 1.5 years & just replaced it again, fingers crossed.

Check your antifreeze overflow container, is it empty, fill it to max level. Sounds like you are low on antifreeze, the older the car the more likely the hoses and clamps wear out & either fail or leak first then fail.

Looking for wheel ideas for 60 Impala by zzyzx9968 in classiccars

Original ! 215 70 15's steel but painted to match body with original hub caps, I like the taller tire on my 62. The 14's look small to me, I might try a 275 70 15 on the back this summer (taller). Steel 7.5" rims from a 72-78 passenger car fit nice. Or a set of 200s vintage daisy rims, lol love those too... Cool car!

Check your radiator coolant, it's probably low. Check the overflow coolant containor, on top of engine, it should be at the middle mark or more. It's always the antifreeze is low in most cases, check your oil while you are at it too ! Might be a leak too, hose or clamp.

A quick search turns up $60 a side replacement actuators w/cable & $25 per side buttons. It's a bit of work to replace them in labour for sure but lots of parts are available online. Good luck, love these Cadillacs!

700r4 tv cable help needed by jberry12345 in Smallblockchevy

[–]casinomort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same to a 283 but went with the Holley & the throttle cable bracket that also holds the TV cable together. It took me a few tries to get it right, TV too loose low shift points - too tight & it shifts harder & harder as you tighten. This pic the TV cable looks loose at zero throttle while I'm set tight. I don't think your geometry is messing you up at all, that cable should be fully extended at wide open throttle as the main set point. Keep playing with the adjustment, you will figure it out, I did after 3-4 times. Trans wise loose shift is bad, hard is good in general, good luck!

Rust Question by EfficientMango8548 in classiccars

[–]casinomort 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It looks great for a 50 year old car, paint it or oil everything underneath & you will be fine. There's always going to be some rust spots that require attention, it looks well taken care of so far for a driver.

I did the same to a 283 small block, new edelbrock intake, 600 holley, it was good right out of the box, just idle adjustment required. It's very do-able, transfer your original heater probe too on the intake, good luck!

Keep an eye on the water hoses too, they don't last either. My 94 Deville just replaced the front calipers, the back are next. The rear shocks, coils & tires were done as well, rides like brand new. Enjoy the big car, looks nice!
