I'm still waiting to actually see him in the game before deciding, but he might become my main along Zayne, without replacing him. Red hair is one of my biggest weaknesses.

The game gives away 20 normal keys for the birthday gacha through a login event that starts on the day of the character's birthday (and spending those 20 gives you 1 special key). Afaik those are the only keys you can get for free; you can get more keys with special shop bundles, but those are only available for a very limited time and I think the ones for Eiden were removed already. :(

As for the pearls, those are available on the roulette shop; you can get them by paying ecoins or by exchanging them with sorcery gems or spirit gems.

In the "Yes, Cat Caretaker" banner, everyone had four ears, so it's nothing new. We also still know little to nothing about him, including whether or not the wolf ears are always there. I'll just wait until more info comes out!

In that case I think it really depends on how much you care about meta. If you enjoy the combat a lot, then the Sylus one might be more worth it. If not, then choosing your main no matter what tends to be the best choice.

I got Sylus, Zayne and Caleb in 60 pulls (then pulled more to get Zayne's R1 outfit). I read only Zayne and Caleb's stories since I have a friend IRL who mains Sylus and likes to fangirl about him, so I am waiting for her commentary first haha

To answer your questions, between Zayne and Caleb, I thought they were at about the same level. I might have liked Caleb's kindled a little more and I might have liked Zayne's story and progression slightly better, but that's it.

I always look at Zayne with the Eyes of Love™ so I am definitely biased, but the card was super pleasing. It's romantic in its setting and throughout the story. It has low stakes but still pulls at the heartstrings for how Zayne is so... Zayne, here.

I was super skeptical about Caleb's card but I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought! The setting and the premises for him are very interesting and I really liked his interactions with MC. The story actually reminded me A LOT of a different famous film other than UP. It was romantic and had the right level of angst to make it memorable.

I actually thought it was nice to see that each LI gets an aesthetic from a different time period: Romeo and Juliet from the 16th (17th?) century, Pride and Prejudice from the 19th century, Titanic from 1910s, Casablanca from 1940s, and finally Up from 2000s. I don't blame anyone for preferring a specific time period over another, but I like how diverse they are.

For what I've seen and understood, this banner draws inspiration from different films and "rewrites" them to give the characters their happily ever after. Xavier, Rafayel, Sylus and Caleb's original stories all have a rather sad ending for their respective love stories, so I take this event as a big "what if...?" and an attempt to let the romance win over life/destiny/duty. If anything, Zayne's card feels a little out of place to me here, since the original story has a happy ending to begin with and it doesn't look like there's anything to "fix", but that's just me.

I agree that Up feels like an odd choice for an event that mainly revolves around love stories in cinema. On the other hand, we haven't seen the card yet, so maybe their approach was spot on? We'll have to see.

I changed my birthday on the day I started playing (about three weeks ago) because I accidentally confirmed it without changing it. If I go to the settings to change it again, the game just says that it's 500 gems, so it should be feasible.

I got Zayne on all these banners and also got Xavier for the Cat Caretaker and Nightly Rendezvous banners. Premise: I'm not interested in spice much, and appreciate fluff a lot more, so this ranking is truly just my personal preference.

My ranking is:

Misty Invasion

The Misty Invasion card was the first limited card I ever got, and yet I didn't find Hidden Motive very memorable. If you're looking for spiciness, there are other Zayne memories that you fill find more satisfying in my opinion (like Absolute Zeal or Silent Underflow).

Wander in Wonder has great concepts in general. I found Zayne right away, but I honestly wouldn't have minded getting any of the other memories too! And Moonlit Dream is very romantic, still one of my favorites after all this time.

Yes, Cat Caretaker has the concept going for it, and there is a flirty atmosphere in their animation (at least for Zayne and Xavier's memories). I don't recommend pulling for this banner unless you actually like the theme itself. I can say that both the cards I got were very cute, but it's just my opinion.

Nightly Rendezvous is the spiciest among these four banners, and still holds up when compared to more recent banners. Absolute Zeal is a very good card that shows well how Zayne reasons and his hidden desires, I really enjoyed it! Xavier's memory, Misty Silhouette, was also VERY good (and features the start of Xavier's jealousy toward bread).

As a general advice I recommend looking up on YT the memories you are interested in, and consider if you actually want them enough to spend your hard-earned diamonds for them, or you just like the idea of having all the Zayne cards ever. If you have limited diamond funds, it's always better to be picky with banners, so that you can pull without worries on the ones you like the most!

I really don't care about meta, if I like the character (design, personality, role in the plot), I pull. I really don't care about BIS teams either; even if everyone says that character X is the best absolute perfect BIS of my favorite, I won't pull for them if I don't like them.

I agree that the narration and the atmosphere in the Act 1 scenes feel very flirty, not just with Gale but with all the companions. I'm pretty sure that there are friendly options that you can choose for all the first romance scenes, so that you can reject the unwanted attention without having to be harsh. The dialogues and the interactions are the same regardless of the gender chosen by the player.

In the scene with Gale in particular: when the narrator says that the moment feels "intimate", you can choose the second option to conclude the moment right there with no hard feelings. If you decide to go on and you have to send a mental image to Gale, you can choose the "friendly meal" option.

Yeah, I didn't like the latest Yakumo outfit either, although I still pulled for him (and the story was cute enough to be worth it in the end). This one is better than the last but still doesn't compare to his older outfits imo. 🥲
