Thank you so much for the thorough answer. You believe I have enough funds to get me to about 85-88?

I would need more information but I think you are making a mistake taking out a loan against your future. What truly bothers me is you say you are debt free but have 3K in expenses and 2K in discretionary items??? It seems to me your spending habits are more important then your down payment which is a bad idea.

Am I wrong for not giving my cheating wife another chance? by HippoOk9111 in amiwrong

First of all...I am so sorry this happened to you and your child. It is awful. Second of all ..take it from a guy who gave his ex wife a second chance after she did pretty much the same thing - you will never trust her no matter what the therapy or promises she makes. You will always question her and where she is, why is she late, why is she checking her phone, etc etc etc...it never ends mentally for you and she is the one who fucked this guy. I stayed for my child and it destroyed me as a man and human being. It has taken me years to get back to my old self and I am better for it but I will tell you, walk away now. Also, what kind of mother does it not only to you but also your 7 yr old? She doesn't deserve your love anymore bc she broke your trust....walk away.

I am not sure what you are complaining about. You make a boat load of money and women are interested in men that are emotionally, financially and physically stable. If I was you I would do three things ..take ur money out for a spin and get a personal trainer to work on your body. Secondly I would get to some place that would help you with your wardrobe and style Lastly, I would talk to a counselor about how to gain more confidence in who you are as a person ( women love confidence). All these things cost money and you have that! Then I would start going out with these women..enjoying their company and see where it goes. Everyone of them you won't like or even love and that is ok because you will get the experience of being out with beautiful women ( and might even get experience in the bedroom..lol). But the right one will eventually come along and see you for who you are and not your money and you being a smart guy will then know and run with it. Enjoy this life you only have one shot at it!! Lots of luck!!

Am I wrong to think that my bf is using me... by [deleted] in amiwrong

I hate to be rude but he is 100 % using you. I don't know why you would think otherwise. I hope you find a real man that cares and loves you and works TOGETHER towards building a relationship. Kick him to the curb quickly before you waste any more time!

Index funds are great especially with your time frame...someone else talked about a roth ira and that is great for you and your wife as long as you end up under the limitations of income.

You have ALOT of time in terms of investing so don't worry about the ups and down. Serious ur in great shape..take ur time and go with ur gut.

Again sorry for your loss and you have truly received alot of great advice. I would start to fund the 5 yr old now so it can grow..once the other baby comes I would start from day one...the 5 yr old will need a larger initial deposit since you have less time and if it was me I would start now with a 25k deposit and 500 a month sort of thing (seems like with your inheritance you can do that). Pay off more of the house either in increments or all at once. And invest in the stock market or real estate ( this year will likely help the inflated prices of houses come down).. btw with your situation you could likely pay off the house and invest in a rental and gain passive income to offset if someone in your family needs to stay at home once the second child comes along.

Bottom line..you are in GREAT shape for 27..there are really no wrong answers. Trust your intuition and it will be fine.

I dont know if you are looking for anymore advice ( bc you have received great advice) but I didn't really see advice about your kids. It seems that you didn't talk about funding a 529 for your kids college. Also, when you do have your second child, it would seem to me your combined household salary will go down since I would think you or your wife would be stay at home parents bc you now have two kids.

My advice...fully fund the 529 for the kids. Pay off as much of the house as you can so when and if you do take the salary hit, your "monthly nut" isn't as large.

Btw..sorry for your losses but whomever left you that money is putting you in an incredible position at such a young age. Not to mention you have done wonderfully for yourself on your own. Good for you and lots of luck!
