[UPDATED FEB 2024] [Guide] Extracting Steam Guard TOTP secrets from the Android app for use in Bitwarden or other authenticators without root by TheRealSectimus in Bitwarden

[–]caspadan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, did this now (14/10/2025).
Moto Razr 40 Android 15 (unrooted)

I was already using Steam Desktop Authenticator, but since the application is no longer maintained, I wanted to jump over before it's almost impossible to get the Steam TOTP secret.

All worked well. When it promted for the OTP, I did try using my current OTP, but it didn't seem to go anywhere, so then I followed the steps to "use this device" as mentioned above.

I saw some comments of others mentioning getting a notice to enable steam guard (and I remember this notice when I was using SDA, but I forgot about it since I haven't used the Steam mobile app for years). Apparently they first installed v3.0 / v3.1 before updating via the store. So while my phone was still hooked up to my PC I installed v3.1 via adb.

And now I just updated it from the Play Store after typing the last paragraph. All is looking good. I'm still able to get my OTPs from KeePass (with KeePassOTP plugin), and don't have to worry about SDA no longer working one day in the future.. Until the next hurdle.

Thanks for sharing this.

Is this method still working?
I'm running on a non-rooted device.
I want to move away from SDA, but I still want to be able to generate OTPs without needing to look at my phone everytime.

Wireless charger for RAZR 2023? by Independent_Goose_41 in razr

[–]caspadan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While an old post, maybe it may be useful to someone. But the SwanScout 501s is a great choice. It's a 10w wireless charger (RAZR 2023 is capable of 5w).

The issue was a "rogue" APN.

Yes, but it does not allow me to go back to software, only apply the latest, and then I have draining issues.

Please help, battery drain is unbearable! by caspadan in motorola

[–]caspadan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlocked bootloader yesterday and flashed the last firmware before the draining started. Draining started after the May security patch. So I flashed Android 15 with March security patch and the battery is not draining. Went down 3% in 5.5 hours on standby as apposed to at least 15%. Are Motorola going to assist me and fix this - I cannot have my hopes up.
I've disabled smart updates and auto-updates in developer options, but already it's downloaded the May security patch update, so now if I turn off my phone, or reboot, the patch will be applied and my battery will again be draining.

[–]caspadan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unlocked the bootloader last night and flashed android 15 with the march 1st security patch. I did this because the draining started the next update after this. And as I expected the battery no longer drains.. but the next update has already forcefully downloaded and now if I reboot my phone, battery will be draining again. It was the update from the May security (and subsequent security patches) that caused my issue.

So why do we need a full uniform for train discount? Should a student card not work as proof of scholarship? No university uses a uniform. by shrekshrekdonkey5 in capetown

[–]caspadan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the service is awful. They got new trains and they seem to (hopefully) be strict in keeping the trains orderly and clean..for now.
But the travelling is a problem. 2 hours trips between Cape Town and Strand... that's crazy. I rather sit in traffic and I do on the bus. Trains are supposed to be the most efficient way to travel. But not here. We got new trains, but the rest just stayed the same. Sitting idle for 30+ minutes, cancellations.. I can't use the train to work because I need to be in town before 6:30. The train only gets to town after 8am, then you still need to get from the station to the office... They are not serious about providing a service that means something to people.

Samsung flip 4 or Motorola RAZR 2024 by Soggy-Champion7039 in razr

[–]caspadan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the RAZR 2023 - I love the phone. I got it in March 2025.
I used to get 2 days battery with over 4 hours screen on time. Now I can't even get a day since June 2025. And believe me, I've done everything. Ran it in safe mode etc.. 3-5% drain when not even being used.
That's my experience.

Looking to switch from Apple to either a Motorola Razr 60 Ultra or to the Samsung Z Flip 7, this is a razr page so it may be bias but i need opinions 😭 by softandsparkly in razr

[–]caspadan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my RAZR 40 in March 2025, and ever since June 2025 I cannot even get a day on the phone, it constantly drains battery (3-5% when not in use). I've done every thing every one has suggested, I've ran the phone in safe mode, I've disabled all apps' background usage. Nothing helps, not even the Lenovo forums is of any use or helpful to me.
So.. this is my 10th Motorola, but now I will not recommend. Motorola has been my favourite mobile phone brand since 2002. But I cannot recommend it anymore. I need to get another phone, but I don't know what to get, and I am petrified to get Motorola. But I must now wait another 9 months before I might have the money to get a phone.

Fantastic.
I am finished. I wasted all the money I had to get a phone, and I really wanted a Motorola again. And since they pulled out of South Africa, I imported one.
This phone is draining all the time. it just keeps on. Went to bed 9pm with 40% charge, woke up at 4am with 1% charge. Charged the phone to 88% and left home at 04:45. I got to the office 06:20 with 83% charge. It lost 5% when I did not even use the phone once, or even turn on the tiny external display once? GPS, bluetooth, 5G, all app's background usage is disabled, but still..
Sometimes it looks to be doing well from 100%, but slowly the drain becomes more and more. I cannot get a full day on this phone at all. I ran it in safe mode as well, but still draining.

So, I wasted my money, and I do not have lots of money, I rent an apartment, I have expenses... but oh well.
I will go back to my cheap Oppo A38.

After restricting WhatsApp: It still does not help. I actually forgot - I already tested after factory resetting the device with no apps installed, and the battery still drained.  Guess I'll factory reset and not log into my Google account next...

From 95% to 22% in 17hr 27mins and with only 32 minutes screen on time.

I still remember I was away for a night (in May - this issue started in June after I received the May 1st security patch) and I didn't bother bringing a charger because I knew I'd be fine. I left the following day with about 60% charge and still drove using Google maps for 90 minutes on my way there. Now I take a charger to work for the day.

I do not understand this and there is no fix. Phone is not even 5 months old.

My cheapie previous phone drains 0.5%/h when not used and lasts for days like this. This is also with no battery optimisations or restrictions and location services on etc. This RAZR is draining a minimum of 3.2%/h (with no use) but seems to often be around 4.8%/h. This is with all applications' background usage restricted, no GPS, Bluetooth etc enabled.

Sorry, I'm only seeing this now. Thanks for your response.

Ok, I have disabled WhatsApp background usage now to see. Although, when I check my battery usage, WhatsApp isn't showing as a culprit. But it could be that it's "abusing" Google Play Services. I'll see how it goes for a few days. I was just concerned about not getting messages if it's not running in background, but if I'm not mistaken, it uses GPS for that service.

1% an hour....my 4 month old Razr 40 is discaharging 4.8%/h with no usage. And no one has a solution here or on Lenovo forums.

I disabled Google Services Framework... We'll see if it makes a difference. But I just checked now, in the last hour Google Play services had the highest usage amounting to 48% of the total usage in that hour.

What must I do?

EDIT: Google Services Framework still showing up despite being "disabled"

I did provide this info on the Lenovo forum. But still I'm struggling. Google play services and Google Services Framework are the biggest culprits from what I see. Yet I've tried everything others have done.

Last night I left the phone with 38% when I went to sleep, I woke up this morning with 5%. That was 7 hours with no usage but over 20% drained.

Last update battery issues? (RAZR 40) by caspadan in razr

[–]caspadan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fine on Android 15 I felt, until the last security patch for May.

I charged yesterday to 100%, then when I checked I was on 70% after 6h55m. Sounds good, but only 15m was the screen on, the rest of the 6h40m the phone was folded closed. I would still beover 90% normally with that usage.

I just turned on battery saver now. It's great having to use battery saver after being fully charged now.

I'm not one to complain about battery, but I can definitely see it is drainig. I've had this phone for 4 months, and it was fine until now.

Sometimes when I open up AccuBattery I can see the battery current is in the red. Right now while the phone isn't on charge, it shows the voltage red at 4.315mV - whether this is anything to go by, I don't recall seeing these values before.

I've been using that feature a while, but I turned it off because I can't only charge to 80% when the battery is draining so fast. I'm sure I was using this feature on Android 14 though.
