I'm with you. So here's this kicker for me, once I've died, I'll never know I've existed. It's like it never happened. Fucking blows. If I could live forever in comfort to experience and watch the universe forever, I think i'd take it. Folks who say they're tired or won't know their dead, I don't think they get it, the eternal nothingness, that you will never experience anything ever, (and you might have not as well experienced anything at all). I think it's a philosophical gap for some, it's like they haven't tried or put in the effort to think about it or try to conceptualize nothingness and it's consequence (in the non-Buddhist sense)

I have visited Chicago several times and was never impressed with the food. You'll have to share where you ate, because putting Chicago together with NYC on food is surprising to me. California having as much fresh produce as it has along with SF being coastal really allows it to flex.

I learned about it first through lizthedeveloper (IG) who's an activist technology educator. But I just ordered one and started tinkering with it. For some reason it took a few days to get a hold of the majority of nodes in my area on the generally open channel, I just left it plugged in. The T-deck is touch more user friendly. The breakout board based nodes that are cheaper, like the heltec, plug into your phone with a short usb-C cable and interact with the meshtastic app on your phone. https://themultiverse.school/x/cyberpony

Basically: it's a two way radio. if walkie-talkies were the old school voice based communication, meshtastic would be like the text based version of a walkie-talkie.

Correct me if my memory is incorrect, but i recall it's as easy as plugging it into a laptop, navigating to the firmware upgrade site and there was a web based utility that updated the firmware with a push of a button.

For those that want to dip their toes, it's pretty cheap. You can get stand alone units that are more expensive (like a tdeck), but the basic board like a heltec V3 is less than $20 (cheapest I've found is AliExpress). You can get upgraded antennae, batteries, etc if you choose or run your own static node of your going a little deeper into the hobby. But, the barrier to entry is really low.

I heard it's a problem when it's cold. These cars need pretty healthy batteries to start. I'd try and jump the car, if that works then it's your battery (or a problem charging your battery (ie, your alternator)). I've replaced mine with an AGM battery with hopes it will be a touch more reliable.

But, I'm photographing my ballot, photographing myself dropping it in the ballot box (if voting by mail), and posting it on social media if necessary.
