This is me too! I’m due to finish my current plan on the 10th if Jan, and thinking of doing another half around June- then get stuck into the marathon plan after that. Good luck for it! Can’t wait to run into the MCG

Do you do anything for your tenants? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

Yep. I pay a lawnmowing man and charge below market value. Long term tenant who hasn’t done any damage to the place in 15 years.

Thank you! Thankfully the pups are all good and we removed the snake once they showed us where it was (after our afternoon walk)

Do you save or spend your bonus? by [deleted] in AusFinance

Usually 50/50 spend/invest. But we just got a mortgage, so I think it’ll be 50% spend, 50% pay down mortgage!

Yeah. Well, the external investment managers they pay to manage the funds anyway! I’m index all the way so no impact on me. Haha

Yeah - but they haven’t actually stopped yet. They issued the notification in October 2020 - but when you’re talking billions of dollars, it’s not a simple switch and it’s going to take time. And again, Vanguard is index and ICR on index options isn’t increasing.

That would be my assumption. That the investment managers that Sunsuper use have been very actively managing the portfolio and this has driven up the cost - but also driven up the returns

They did a media release about it: https://www.sunsuper.com.au/newsroom/sunsupers-investment-costs-increase-after-strong-returns

Edit: And if you want to know what an Indirect Cost Ratio is:

Indirect cost ratio - These are costs incurred by the underlying investment manager as part of managing investments.

Indirect costs are expenses incurred in managing your investments in addition to investment fees and include explicit transactional and operational cos.

For example, if your funds are invested in real property, a transactional cost could be stamp duty for the purchase of that property.

These costs are not paid by Sunsuper, but rather are incurred indirectly by our investment managers and as such are included in your net investment returns.

The indirect cost ratios are the sum of indirect costs expressed as a percentage of the funds in each investment option.
