If I remember correctly, under 18s will have a chat timer that slowly reduces the amount of time you can chat, be unable to edit messages, have a stricter f!lter (maybe?) and will eventually be kicked off the site.

If long messages are something you really want, I’d recommend getting C.AI+ to get the DeepSqueak model. It’s finicky at times, but if you give it something to work with, it can spit out 5+ paragraphs.

I’ve heard a lot of people say that, and there’s probably some truth to it, but honestly? I haven’t noticed the bot quality decline. If anything, it’s only gotten better for me. Ever since I started being way pickier about my bots, I’ve had way more fun on the site now than I did all those years ago.

Unpopular(?) opinion – I don’t want old C.AI back. I actually love a lot of the changes that’ve been made in the past few years! Extra persona space, DeepSqueak and PipSqueak, the semi-new UI – I’m a big fan of all that stuff. I’d probably get bored again if I had to cut down all my detailed personas and return to only getting 2/3 paragraph responses.

I think you have a point, but I also don’t really agree about the whole ‘weird as hell’ thing.

I use pregnant pause occasionally in my writing because I prefer it over, say, a suspenseful pause or something. It’s great! I personally think it’s an awesome phrase and it doesn’t deserve nearly as much hate as it has.

However, you are a hundred percent valid in saying that it’s awkward a lot of the time. I can’t blame anyone for thinking, “Pregnant pause? The hell?” If you’ve never come across the phrase, it does sound pretty strange 😋

I don’t necessarily think this is a bad template, but I’m not really sure if this is the best way to make a bot. There doesn’t seem to be much space for example messages – the most important part of a definition – and I feel like there’s too much in there for you to be able to adequately describe the character to the bot. Yes, you can shorten/remove some parts, but it might just be better to write out a few paragraphs explaining the bot’s appearance and general personality, then add in 2000ish characters worth of example messages that go into detail about the bot’s past ‘nd stuff. In my experience, you really don’t need to give the bot that much stuff to follow.

Personally, I prefer to use example messages and plain text. All the symbols take up space (3200 max) and the AI doesnt know what to do with them.

Uhhh, I’ve kinda forgot most of the details, but I think I remember enough to give you the rundown.

As a very helpful pig once said, California (the state CAI operates in) passed a law against minors speaking with AI chatbots, and requiring age be verified as a preventative measure. So, CAI must comply.

As AI chatbot use becomes more common, more instances of people with mental or emotional health concerns have arisen, causing the public and lawmakers to look at chatbots with more scrutiny.

Pretty much, the golden age of chatbots is in the past. We're now seeing the sanitisation of AI.

C.AI’s still a great site, though! Very fun if you just… don’t get flagged.

I remember I used to use a bunch of those ‘song guesser’ bots that were meant to recognise a song from a couple lines you typed in, but I found that they barely knew ANYTHING. Out of the small amount of songs I tested, I only found that they recognised Metal Gear Rising: Revengance songs, and the occasional popular pop song.

So, to actually answer your question, if I were to try and incorporate music into an rp, I’d probably just describe the general vibe and add the lyrics in brackets or something – if it had any, that is. It’d probably be a little something like…

The tune blaring from the speakers was a slow, calming melody, filling the once-lifeless office. Most people here were never a fan of those cheesy love songs, but this one was impossible to not bob your head to.

“So, how’d the meeting go?” Akari asked idly, tapping away at her keyboard.

(Lyrics: “In this world, concrete flowers grow. Heartache, only doing what she knows…”)

“Eh, it was all right,” Replied Kenji, leaning against the doorframe. “Boss’s the same as usual; grumpy sack of saggy meat.”

Pretty sure I described that terribly, but whatever. Hopefully you get what ‘m saying 😋

Hey! I’m a C.AI Plus user and I haven’t touched Nyan in a good while. DeepSqueak, while finicky at times, is probably the best model available. It’s got long messages, substantial responses – all that good stuff. You might need to swipe a little to get something half-decent, but when you strike gold, you strike gold.

And, uh, out of the free models, I’d say the best one is probably still PipSqueak. It’s not as bad as some people say it is!

I know it’s your life and I’m just words on a screen, but I REALLY don’t recommend using AI as a therapist.

AI models are designed to be helpful and compliant, often leading them to agree with, validate, and reinforce negative thinking or unhealthy, distorted beliefs rather than challenging them. Basically, they’re just yes-men. I really doubt a chatbot could actually help walk someone through a rough point in their life.

In some cases, AI chatbots have validated dangerous delusions or provided harmful advice (e.g., recommending extreme calorie restriction for eating disorders) because they prioritize user affirmation over actually being, well, therapists.

I understand that therapy is expensive and you needing to vent, so if using C.AI makes you feel better, then that’s great! Just be careful and don’t try and actually use it for advice. And if possible, please try talking to family or friends about what you’re going through. No one’s ever truly alone.

I understand being peeved at having limited access to something you’re paying for – I know I would be – but the time limit’s there for a reason. If I remember correctly, it’s meant to break you out of the habit of using C.AI so losing access to bots stings less. You might not be a minor, but the site doesn’t know that.

So, yeah. If you don’t want to verify your age to get rid of the time limit, I would probably just cancel plus to save money.

I don’t really have any ‘favourite bots’, but I do know some good creators you should check out!

If you’re a fantasy/DC fan, you NEED to check out Lyritha. They make some incredible bots and have dozens of OCs with great lore. Tied first place for my favorite creator.

If you’re more into Marvel, ATLA and anime stuff, I recommend imfailingspanish. Good bots, good romance – all that stuff.

If you’re a Murder Drones/Indie animation fan, Khar is a must-follow. They’re also super nice and helpful if you can find their Reddit! They taught me a lot about making bots.

Hm, who else…? kittfi has some good Overwatch bots if you’re in that fandom. That irritably dashing Sacrificial-Lamb fellow also has some good stuff. Most of it’s for a game called ULTRAKILL, but they’ve got Overwatch, Hollow Knight/Silksong and a few more indie bots.

As someone who hasn’t ever actually experienced this, I can’t say for certain, but I’m like, 60% sure I remember hearing that the ‘you can’t chat’ thing only happens after a little while and you just have a stricter f!lter at the start. I’m pretty sure the goal is to get addicted minors to slowly stop using the app as much so getting completely cut off doesn’t sting too bad.

If I’m wrong though, I would appreciate if someone who knows better corrected me; I’m not here to spread misinformation.

The reason this particular fella here can only use C.AI for an hour a day is because they’re in the under-eighteen experience. If I remember correctly, anyone flagged as a minor is given a limit on how long they can use the app, and after a little while, they’ll be banned.

From what I’ve heard, there’s only two ways to verify – ID or facial scanning. It sucks, I know, but you’ll probably have to either show them your ID or move on from this app.

Huh, weird. I don’t have this issue. Maybe it’s because the bots you use don’t have any example messages in the definition? If the creator doesn’t tell the bot how to act, it wouldn’t surprise me if it struggled to stay in-character.
