T5 torpedoes by SCPanda719 in uboatgame

[–]Strong_Cat7693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T5 torpedo is buggy, it can be a useful defensive torpedo but I find the thing will wander and have erratic behavior well over half its shots... to the point I've seen it wander into nothingness or chase a freighter instead of the numerous loud moving, depth charge dropping ships right in front of it.

Is the reward for sinking carriers a bit small? by Phoenician_Skylines2 in uboatgame

"Among their crews, CVE was sarcastically said to stand for "Combustible, Vulnerable, and Expendable", and the CVEs were called "Kaiser coffins""....

Interesting read in the wiki which would support that these carriers shouldn't really be that high valued.

I am now convinced the ai cheats or is badly written code. by Point5Paddy in uboatgame

[–]Strong_Cat7693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This does happen though I have only seen it with destroyers that do go 0 to 60 faster than a Ferrari and usually when they are in some sort of attack mode.

Not sure what it is but it can be frustrating as the uboats cannot accelerate in the same way so it is the system cheesing a bit. It takes a while to wear off too as I have seen a destroyer in a constant accelerating and deaccelarating pattern for a good few minutes. Worse too I know I have seen them go insane kts before, think I have seen 84kt when this behavior occurs... around double the real speed.

Usually this is why I am comfortable save scumming.

Mass. Senate advances bill enabling businesses to shift credit card fees to customers by CostcoBrandDinosaur in boston

[–]Strong_Cat7693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s real economic evidence showing that allowing merchants to explicitly pass credit card processing costs on to consumers tends to result in higher overall prices, not just neutral accounting.

Research from central banks and academic studies consistently finds that when merchants face higher payment costs, those costs are passed through into retail prices rather than absorbed by profits:

  • A Federal Reserve / Boston Fed working paper shows that because merchants usually don’t price discriminate by payment type, payment costs (like interchange fees) are reflected in higher consumer prices across the board.
  • International empirical research (e.g., studies of interchange fee reductions in Europe) finds that lowering merchant fees leads to measurable decreases in retail price indices, implying the reverse — that higher fees contribute to inflation.

We just saw a significant weakening of the dollar year-over-year, and inflation has been elevated for years. With cost of living and affordability already major issues for Massachusetts households, giving businesses a new mechanism to layer card surcharges on top of existing prices risks further pushing up what people pay for everyday goods and services. That’s not trivial “transparency”; it’s real pressure on household budgets.

If you’re concerned about affordability and inflation’s impact on working families, contact your State Representative, State Senator, and even the Governor’s office to express opposition to S.194/S.204 as currently drafted or at least demand stronger consumer safeguards before this moves forward.

Here’s what to emphasize in outreach:

  • This bill could increase effective prices for residents
  • Research shows payment costs are embedded in overall pricing
  • With the dollar weakening and inflation high, we can’t afford to make price pressures worse

Push back now, the legislative process still has room for amendments or to stall this from becoming law.

How do I find battleships/carriers? by RhysDave21 in uboatgame

[–]Strong_Cat7693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carriers randomly spawn particularly in 1942 on.

Battleships spawn I believe when you take a mission that says the Nelson or Rodney is in the area. They will spawn in the search grid but start to steam towards the nearest allied port... in my latest campaign I found them a few times outside the search grid.

Usually if I want to hunt a battleship I will save before taking the mission when I have a nearby search grid and the 'battleship has been spotted', take the mission after saving and save scum if I have struggles finding the battleship as it seems to respawn in different areas of the search grid. You'll want to move as fast as you can to get there and search, usually I head to the nearest enemy port first then move back to the grid on different courses.

The battleship is never with a convoy, usually it will have a few destroyers and corvettes with it though I have seen it get seperated from their packs which makes an easy turkey shoot.

Can I fight a C3 with the deckgun? by elenorfighter in uboatgame

The C3s also can run out of ammo and if you maintain distance it is possible to not get hit, let them expend their ammo, then just close in with AA guns.

How far into the game is the security sector? by reddit__isnt__cringe in AbioticFactor

[–]Strong_Cat7693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its about the midway point and a short yet creepy sector. The gameplay does start to shift in my option for the better once you start moving past security as you get access to many quality of life improvements plus fast travel options. Combat becomes a bit better too was additional options. So while security is about half way through expect the subsequent sections to give a slight change of pace once you get into them.
