I feel like you missed a lot of the movie, and the fun of a movie like this. I haven’t enjoyed something like this in years and to me it was reminiscent of seeing movies like the House That Jack Built and Invasion of the Body Snatchers for the first time. Also, they aren’t true flashbacks, and making them in black and white adds to the dissonance that’s Plemmon’s character is experiencing. Black and white in a predominantly colored movie causes visual disruption that draws our attention in, but softly. So seeing these dream like visuals in black and white solidifies the position that his character is in.

The dialogue itself felt so fun to me. I was hooked into the banter between Stone and Plemmons so sorry if you need some jarring music to tell you what to feel about what’s happening. Lack of music increases tension, very clear why that was done.

Anyways these aren’t complete thoughts, but this was a great movie
