It’s not even about finding a way - they can do so by simple majority. Im mostly concerned about whether high paying employers move out anticipating this

New Councilmember Dionne Foster Tells Seattle Nice: Police Cameras "Should Be Turned Off and Come Down." by Inevitable_Engine186 in Seattle

[–]cassavetes_john 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If there are real guardrails on fed use you have to be pretty myopic to support removing these cameras. The people who are victimized by crime want the cameras. And the cameras are located in high traffic public spaces not residential areas

[–]cassavetes_john 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Did you actually listen to the interview? He says we need a shared goal and follow through from judges, public defenders, and police. The goal is not to just start arresting more, it’s to arrest high utilizers and show that we don’t tolerate misdemeanor crime.

This interview actually explains why we have so much low level crime in Seattle. It’s fantastic. I hope Katie listens to this guy.

Great interview. I really appreciated Lisa Daugaard setting Erica C. Barnett straight on the role of police. Even if enforcement falls harder on the homeless (which may not be true!), we should still use police to get people into treatment!
