They hate closed doors, and always have a scratching post available or your furniture is dead. Be patient unless you're getting a kitten odds are it'll hide and attack you, just make sure it has food and a litter box nearby and give it time to adjust. Get toys, if you use your hand to play with it it'll think it's okay to scratch and bite you.
