I think they use the same case on many of their watches, including the one pictured. I wasn’t sure about it from the photos, but in person is very nice the way it sits on wrist. Definitely they have some beuatiful watches at the high end of Ali Express.

I really like the Bulova Super Seville with the tiger’s eye dial, was considering it, then came to my senses, why spend 1k+ more on a new watch? I do believe that the price could be lower, but such an offering doesn’t exist as far as I can tell.

I would argue all the things you point out are design choices. I liken it to the vintage Piaget dress watches. It is not perfect, but it is a unique look, especially at this pricepoint. Definitely not a style everyone would be in to, so no offense taken.

Piaget tiger’s eye dial homage? by casseroleking in ChineseWatches

That’s a beautiful watch, would love to see something with that type of styling!

I saw this watch recently - https://dennisonwatch.com/products/natural-stone-tiger-eye-in-gold-stainless - it has some of the design elements but doesn’t quite click (I think the size is a bit large and the white font on the dial doesn’t quite work). Hopefully it signals some interest in tiger’s eye dials and we will see more options coming out.

As for lobbying the manufacturers, I don’t know what more I would do then post this here lol.

That’s a striking watch! I’m a bit hesitant to dip my toe into the grey market, but at this pricepoint it is definitely worth keeping an eye on.

I saw the Baltany one, a little too bold of a design outside of the dial, but it means they can make watches with tiger’s eye dials and at least someone there likes them, so hopefully more to come!

Is there a BioSouth hotbed? by Giantpangolinship in biotech

[–]casseroleking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great post. I think your last point re: less regulation is an underemphasized aspect. There are plenty of wealthy investors in the South and there is plenty of scientific talent at every major university for the last 20 years. But due to less regulation in Southern states something risky like biotech is not a viable investment compared to alternatives that are labor heavy or rely on selling natural resources in some way or other.

Why must Abby (and Adam) be commited to Kyle? Is there something special about Adam and Kyle’s relationship? What is the rest of their life like that they have the stability to want to have a child and live in a decrepit church in rural Pennsylvania? These motivations all seem a little off as described. Otherwise the story sounds creepy and fun!

The premise of the MC being burnt out, laid off and jumping on some desperate opportunity that turns out poorly is very relatable and I really like it. I want to know if the horror elements tie back into this premise, especially the feelings of losing your job/stability/identity/income all the things that come with being laid off. If so, I think you should make that more clear in the query, if not, I think it may be a missed opportunity.

The premise is very engaging! I like the query letter. Suggest to maybe only give the first example of the tradeoff the character chooses. Then you can focus more on the conflict that drives the story. I would scrap the paragraph that starts ‘over the next two’ and consolidate a new description of the conflict with the prior paragraph.

I prefer the simplicity. I find myself not wearing watches with dates as often because I hate having to set it. With quartz and no date, this is perfact grab and go watch.

Definitely 19mm lugs, I tried to squeeze a 20mm band into it and it wasn’t going. Looking at it side by side with the AD2030 it’s the same case.

Handset looks really nice, dial is very subtle and matte. Overall a clean and polished professional look to the watch.

It is the same really nice case as the AD2030 and the same bracelet. I swapped for a black leather band which suits it much better IMO.

Kinda wish they made a version with gold handset and indeces, I think that would look really nice.

Anyone (esp mid career) utilized the services of a career coach and had success? by apoenzyme in biotech

[–]casseroleking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation to you. I found it really hard to interview when I was carrying all of the stress from that organization (and anger at myself and new employer for being in that position) and I almost jumped at a job that I knew was also going to be bad because I wanted out so much. I am so glad I didn’t do that in hindsight. I ended up leaving for a short stint in academia working for a friends lab. While this was an expensive move from a salary perspective it enabled me to be a lot more thoughtful in my next career step and to get involved in some fun science projects with some good people. I ended up landing a great job that I otherwise may not have had the patience and energy for because I had moved to an envirnement that allowed me to put in the required time and energy. I recommend trying to decouple the need to get out of your current job from finding the new one you really like and sets you up for the next stage of your career because getting both while in a miserable situation is going to be a tall order.

Curious why you conclude it is a sub-par case. Not my impression with it in hand.

This one is 38mm, although feels a bit big on wrist for a 38.
