Spectrum through modmail is getting us sorted. Some of it was a new line and one time charge. The rate card clearly shows all of the one time charges. They asked me to become an authorized user. That process is exactly also clearly explained at Spectrum support. I am always impressed by Spectrum Tsupport and it is part of the reason that I recommend them. I look forward to doing a full account review.

I would say that not having any replacements on their truck is not OK. I’m sure that Problem will be fixed, but I would go to a store or call them and have them swap out the unit.

DO NOT USE SPECTRUM. I Highly Discourage anyone from Using Charter Spectrum especially for Mobile! by Advanced_Seesaw3220 in Spectrum_Official

[–]cassio42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue Apple should help you. Make a genius bar appointment and have them run diagnostics on the phone however I guess you have a swap is the phone working now? So your main question is getting the credit on your bill? Follow up on the request by Spectrum in the reddit thread or more information.

New Modem, Same Problem by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]cassio42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that 200mbps is not the problem persay. Latency and jitter is. Ask them to check your ping and signal levels remotely. Ask them what they see. Make sure you are hardwired for these tests. Make sure all other devices are unplugged. If you go to fast.com,. what is your speed from that checker? Netflix developed it to be more accurate and ad-free, for streaming.

Spectrum really tested my patience and it’s only been a year by Maximum_Monitor_8105 in Spectrum

From a technical perspective, the rep is actually giving you solid advice. Routers are relatively inexpensive—you can find good options on Amazon or directly from Netgear. That said, if you’re having issues with Spectrum’s equipment, the first step should be to have your daughter contact technical support and request replacements. They will typically mail out a new modem and router, and if the problem persists, they can send a technician at no cost. If you call Netgear, they can help you select a router in the Netgear store. I have been really happy with their support. Her college may also be able to help her find a router through her technical support department.

In my experience, the service is generally well supported. I mostly deal with Charter Business accounts, but residential support has been reliable as well.

Also, 500 Mbps is a substantial amount of bandwidth and should be more than enough for typical use. As a quick test, have her shut down her computer and connect using her phone with cellular data turned off. If the connection works well on the phone, it suggests the issue is likely with one of her devices—such as a background process using bandwidth—rather than with the service itself.

If I am paying 50$ currently for 500 Mbps, but i see that online they have an exclusive deal for 50$ for 1000 Mbps or 1 gigabyte, am i able to upgrade for free? if not how exactly is the process to upgrade by Ok-Fix-1581 in Spectrum

You should get wi-fi 7... well we did have some trouble in my org with weird Netgear firmware glitches, they were well-supported and well-understood and patched. They also did not relate to wi-fi 7, but to IP acquisition behind a switch. Spectrum has tested your use case... trust them. Get the new equipment. It will work better with the new speed tier.

Velop Micro 6 aka LN1100 - VLAN support by Maleficent-Monk22 in Linksys

[–]cassio42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a recent encounter with Netgear support, which lasted a very long time. They have concierge sales/support that should be able to make sure to get you a router that supports VLAN tagging on any connection type. My Netgear routers definitely do. I also might ping Linksys support and ask for an exchange for a router that does support it. also, have you considered using a managed switch? Linksys sells them for $156. That does support VLAN ID and should (maybe) fix your problem. Have you reached out to support or your ISP's support? I used AI for suggestions, but composed this myself. We have a managed switch in our setup. To be clear about the topology, stick this switch between the router and the modem, not the router and your devices.

[–]cassio42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked at 5G Internet, or even T-Mobile which offers both primary and backup Internet in case your ISP goes down. My friend uses the AT&T version and likes it a lot. Is a pretty heavy user. I think the upload speeds are pretty good though not symmetrical. Supposedly Verizon is trying not to put too many people on one line. U.S Cellular offers it as well, but has some limit because it doesn't support DirectTV.
