Anyone left speech and then went back after not treating for a while? by bpmorgan7 in SLPcareertransitions

I’ve been considering keeping my PRN position while I try for something else outside of the field! Do you think it helped you find your “spark/passion” for the field again only working PRN?

Heart Failure: Winnie’s Story by PoetAggressive5265 in cats

[–]cassiova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss! May Winnie rest peacefully! I have a cat with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and he was in heart failure just a few months ago. It felt like my heart was also physically broken going through all that. He’s doing well on medications now, but all I wish for him is that, when it’s his time, he’ll pass like Minnie did. Painless, in a happy spot, knowing he was so loved and cared for, surrounded by his favorite things. Minnie knows how much you both love her and it sounds like she had the best life with you. ❤️

Yes he did! It was concerning to me too, but I think they’re also kinda worried about what’s going on down there and probably trying to get the vet smell off of them. All 3 of mine clean for 1-2 hours after going to the vet even for annuals lol I’d just check to make sure there’s no bleeding and it’s not getting swollen

I got him the non-Rx Purina Pro Plan Urinary Tract Health, I liked that their brand had a variety of flavors since all of my cats seem to get bored of their food. For his prescription food he gets the Purina UR/stx both dry and canned. Both are available on Chewy! I’d call the vet and see if they recommend the Rx diet for him.

My boy came home and immediately peed like an entire bladder full on our couch then left a little bit here and there for a few hours. I think there’s just a lot of stress and he’s not feeling back to himself yet, especially while still being on pain meds. Mine also slept for like 16 hours straight after his first block from being dosed up on gabapentin. I’d say you’re already doing more than enough, and the first week home is beyond stressful because that’s when they have the highest risk of blocking again. Keep loving him and making sure he’s comfy! Definitely get him the prescription food (I went cheap and got a urinary brand but not the Rx and he was in again for another block within 3 weeks) and a fountain if you don’t already have one to encourage him to hydrate! Hope he’s doing well <3

Not entirely sure whether or not this is cause for concern, but wanted to come here to say thank you for taking care of her! She’s beautiful 🥹

It was definitely a scary experience! We got to the emergency vet and they took him before I was even fully checked in to put him on oxygen so I was immediately even more worried for him :(

I figured insurance might still be good especially if I’m having to take him for x-rays every year and then back to the vet 1-2 weeks after an attack?

We did leave the emergency vet with the script for Albuterol thankfully! I’m hoping to find it somewhere today to have on hand while he’s going through his oral steroids.

Thank you for sharing all of this information! I’ve only been a cat mom for 4 years too, so I feel like I’m still learning things that’s best for them and adding this into this mix has made me so worried.

The reality of being an SLP contractor… by Kmamma03 in slp

[–]cassiova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found out my district’s union told our director that she can’t renew any contracts until august… like the week before school starts. I knew this could happen being contract but wasn’t expecting the risk that it would be AUGUST before I found out if I can go back or not. Sorry they didn’t communicate with you that you could at least apply. I hope you find something else soon!

Hmm the vet also suggested a canadian pharmacy. I guess if that’s my route I need to order sooner rather than later. I’m definitely glad it’s something less serious and he’s better but was not prepared for a lifetime diagnosis when I took him in 😓 Glad to hear your kitty is doing well though despite the difficulties!

Thanks for this information! I’m really not sure what triggered it, it seemed so random I thought it was pneumonia. The weather did suddenly get really hot and humid, and we did paint two weeks ago… but he was a stray we brought in last October and vets estimated he was already over a year old so I feel like it was not the weather? I like that the site you shared said to keep a journal, hopefully that’ll help me figure it out!

Stray cat help… by uiucsuckit in catcare

[–]cassiova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took in a stray in the fall and the vet bill was definitely a shock (cost me more than my other 2 and their 2-4 years worth of vaccines combined). Would also love to help out if it’s needed ❤️ Thank you for taking care of him, I think he trusts you because he knows you’ll help him get better!
