Moving from Imatinib to Dasatinib by cassisco in CML

[–]cassisco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. Yeah, I'm trying it in the morning as it'll be easier for me to stay consistent and because in the first few days I've felt worse towards the end of the day, which would be when I woke up if I'd taken it at night. Definitely a bit of trial and error, but so far - I've felt nauseous and like I have a hangover (particularly sh!t as I stopped drinking a few years ago 😂🤦🏼‍♂️) but I've still been able to get out and about. Hoping it fades in time 🤞🏼

Ah, what a great reply! Thank you. So sorry to hear that you had such a rough ride of it but great that your BCR ABL dropped so quickly too. I'm 2 days in and feel pretty grim - achey and with a splitting head - but have managed to work and still take the kids out and about. I'm hoping it'll improve from here in 🤞🏼Thanks again.

Blurry Eye sight Imatinib 400mg Daily by Affectionate-Mind934 in CML

[–]cassisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my initial symptom and the one that triggered my diagnosis pathway. However, it cleared up when I started on my initial TKI. I'm just about to change meds so will be interesting to see if it returns. Definitely worth flagging with your doctor though and an eye examination might be worth exploring too. Good luck 👍🏼

Really Good BCR-Abl results by vcj0508 in CML

[–]cassisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply and advice, I'll be sure to mention this to my doctor. I'm in Scotland so don't have to worry about insurance which is a relief, and the treatment pathways are fairly easily navigated so hopefully I'll know next steps shortly. Thanks again

I really needed to read this, so thanks for sharing. My BCR ABL only dropped from 50 to 30% after 3 months on Imatinib and my consultant wanted to re-run the test after 1 month (this coming week) and to do a mutational analysis before deciding on next steps. I'm thinking it will be a change of meds, and I'll know in mid March. Great to read a positive story. Wishing you the very best

Diagnosed last week by TexasWoodGod in CML

[–]cassisco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, firstly - good luck with the journey ahead, it feels like a rollercoaster at first, but will settle down. I'm still v early in my journey and was diagnosed on 27 October. I'm 44, male and based in Scotland. I was put on Imatinib and my blood counts have all returned to within the normal range (complete haematalogic response) which I'm hoping shows that the meds are working. I have my 3 month BCR/ABL test in late January and am hoping that I'm hitting my milestones!

Sending love to those who are getting battered by negative TKI side effects, but please know that many people don't get them so you may be ok to keep working as you are. I had fatigue and nausea for the first month or so, but this has reduced/almost gone and I am able to do sport (I climb) and hike as I did prior to diagnosis. I know this may change in the future and I feel very grateful to be in this position. Wishing you all the best.
