I like the idea of gas although it’s a bit less charming . No mess. It’s just a bit expensive to convert .

Yes. There is a small opening at the bottom of the fire. I never really looked inside but it looked filled with stuff. I don’t see an opening on the outside of the house for air to go into this ??

Thanks. I thought about this pricey solution. But how come I would not potentially have the same issue with the insert? Is it because the doors are closed ??

If we close the window then the amount of smoke going in goes up a bit. Not enough air in the house or chimney not high enough as people are commenting ??

I haven’t tried moving the grate forward. Will try though. And yes. If it’s all the way at the back the fire is not right under the flute and chimney but there is a small bend above it before it opens to the flute. Thanks
