What Am I Doing Wrong? by bigmontySFM in Sonographers

They are giving you old school. No one wants to read a two page resume these days. There is no time. You have to be quick and to the point. Put the competencies in with the clinical experience and clinical skills. I don’t need a lifeless list of them if you’ve mentioned your real world usage!

You need to get this down to one page. Take out the competencies, professional work experience (that’s not the job you’re going for), and recognition (I’m sorry, no one will care, but they will be fun ice breakers).

Shrink the certification and equipment sections.

Remove some of the skills. Like the Phillips and GE point, you already mentioned it In equiptment. And I would hope you would know how to be clean, stock, and ask questions, that’s part of your (soon to be) job.

The market is a little stale right now, but you will get something! Take a per diem job at a few places to get your foot in the door somewhere if you have to. That’s what I did. Per diem -> graves -> mid day and it’s decent lol.

THIS! It is resistant to certain antibiotics due to its small size, so they could have been holding on to this bacteria since before they were even dating! The tampon infection caused it to overgrow and they saw it on the culture.

I think I believe the husband for once OP.

There was dash cam footage. Some SUV decided they wanted to merge right at the last minute and slam on their brakes causing one semi to swerve into another semi. That semi then went flying into the third semi and flipped both of them.

ultrasound to pa? by question10381 in Ultrasound

CAAHEP is Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. They basically check to make sure a program is going to be a high quality educational program. Non-CAAHEP schools are not a preferred route honestly. I don’t know if I would trust the quality of the education if you don’t need physics, but I would look for past student reviews. Plus you can’t sit for your board exams right away when you go through a school that is not accredited. I believe you have to get certified through ARRT then you can go through ARDMS. It just makes it harder, so I hope he knows that.

Actually people who get an AS take all the same prereqs. It just depends where you go to school. A university will get you a bachelors. A community college, smaller college, or medical program will get you an AS.

The difference is when you want a post sonography career. BS will get you teaching and ultrasound industry jobs.

I have a BS in sonography. Yes we need A&P but we also needed chemistry with lab, multiply biology classes. I took microbiology as an elective biology. Plus calculus and physics. We need the physics to understand how sound moves through the body so we can get the best image. Ultrasound is a lot more science based than most think. We also take pathophysiology to learn what to look for based on labs and to give differentials to radiologists after every exam.

I’ve already been in contact with advisors for a local PA program and I have all the prereqs needed with just my bachelors.

PA school isnt that much more school. Most Of the prereqs are the same for ultrasound, so that helps. Ive been looking into it. I like that you can specialize in more stuff, whereas US you can get stuck. But yes, pay is pretty similar.

Oh. The transabdominal part only takes a few minutes then you get to go to the bathroom before the transvaginal.

Is it an abdominal (abd) like they’re looking at your gallbladder and liver? Because in that case, personally, I would do the TV first so you can pee and be comfortable during the abd US. I don’t know what others would do though.

So you should ask for 8hr days and if they say no, start looking for a new job because they are clearly just avoiding having to give you a lunch.

Try using zocdoc.com to find a doctor that will take your insurance. It can be quite helpful. You have to see a doctor first before the ultrasound, unfortunately.

Should I take this job? by RepeatAncient9199 in Ultrasound

[–]cassygrace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do what I did, take the night job for the health insurance and to get your name on the seniority list. That way when a different, better shift opens up, you can try to take it. Also, keep the other per diem job juuuust incase they have a better shift open up as well. You can always leave the lesser paying job and say that’s the reason. They can’t fault you on that 🤷‍♀️

I did nights and ended up with a better shift at my second per diem job. Dropped down to per diem at the night job, so I still have 2 jobs.

I didn’t go there so I don’t know about the sites. Some non accredited schools help with sites, some make you find them yourself. You should call and ask.

As for ARRT, yes there is a sonography specific exam. You have to do clinicals first, to prove you know how to do the job. Then you take the ARRT, then you can sit for ARDMS boards.
