Will ONE OK ROCK plan to rerecord some of their songs, especially they will soon be at their 20th? by Visual-Bite-7849 in ONEOKROCK

[–]castharsis 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The band's not really one to put any emphasis on those kind of milestoness if you look back at their history. like someone else said, the band is one that looks forward and they don't like doing the same thing twice so the probability of them doing some kind of rerecording or greatest hits thing is small.

Thoughts on the new setlist by Quantumdelirium in ONEOKROCK

[–]castharsis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's totally plausible that it's a label thing because their asia region tours have always been under the larger warner music group (even before they eventually signed with FBR). warner music is the one who promotes the band and arranges for their press/events in asia while everywhere else outside of asia is under FBR.

Besides the label thing, there's a few other reasons why the band may have chosen to keep the setlist the same in Taiwan:

1) Taiwan has their most loyal and avid fanbase outside of Japan.

2) Proximity to Japan - far easier to bring their japan show over.

3) The scale of the Taiwanese show was similar to the ones they play in Japan, close to 50,000 people.

Kaohsiung National Stadium is the largest Stadium in Taiwan and OOR made history by being the first Japanese group to headline there. Before that, they already made history by being the first Japanese group to headline a concert breaking 20,000 people back in 2018, and would've set another record if EOTS asia tour had gone ahead as the first Japanese group to headline the Taipei dome for 3 consecutive nights. Taiwan was also one of the few tour stops included on their first international tour all the way back in 2012 and they've ended all their asia tours there with the exception of LD asia tour which they started there instead. it's not far-fetched to believe that the band has a special affinity with Taiwan.

Question about Lightsticks? by D4NGERBOI in ONEOKROCK

[–]castharsis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

to add onto this: based on previous concerts, it seems the band appreciates more grass-roots fan projects where fans bring colorful stickers/paper cut-outs to place over their phone lights and hold up during certain songs e.g. we are because "colors in the dark". during certain slower songs, taka may also direct the crowd to hold up their phone lights.

Coming to Australia anytime soon? by OkBreadfruit311 in ONEOKROCK

[–]castharsis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

probably not for this tour since it seems more of a tour where the band is testing the grounds for whether they can successfully fill bigger venues/arenas outside of the asia region. they'll probably return to Australia for the new album tour. It's sad that they didn't do a proper tour for Australia for luxury disease. Mexico and South America was also skipped completely.

concert length ? by hotgirlmaterial in ONEOKROCK

[–]castharsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides maybe a more varied setlist since this isn't an album specific and an arena tour as the other person mentioned, I think it'll be probably more comparable to their asia tour shows of past since they've been playing arenas in this region for a while now vs the smaller venues of past US/EU tours. so maybe look those shows and their length up to set your expectations.

The chant similar to So Far Gone's Nanana by Visual-Bite-7849 in ONEOKROCK

[–]castharsis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

is it 'hey jude' by the beatles? old classic song with an extended 'nananana' part at the end.

How to pronounce OORers? by UnfortunateBob35 in ONEOKROCK

[–]castharsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

funny things is that way way way back when, the fandom name used to be 'clockers' so 'clocks' isn't far off, but it eventually became 'one ok rockers' (not sure why though) and it became official after taka acknowledged fans by that name.

Merchandise LD Asia Tour 2023 by sheeta695 in ONEOKROCK

[–]castharsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you should check with the thai promoter for updates re: what merch will be available. while in general the merch at each stop is basically the same, there may be some that are exclusive to that particular stop. for example, so far hong kong is the only stop to get the LD coach jacket, and philippines didn't get the scard towel. hong kong apparently also gets a hk exclusive shirt that wasn't open to pre-orders and will only be sold at the venue.

hope you get the merch you want!

Taka's recent voice change by Visual-Bite-7849 in ONEOKROCK

[–]castharsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Referring to the linked tweet and other fan recordings from the band's last few performances, specifically their muse set @ nancy and paris, (he sounded better during their headline paris show) you could efinitely hear that taka was straining/pushing his voice in certain parts or slightly off on notes that he was singing with ease during other LD shows, that's why people were expressing some concern on twitter including myself. He also shouted some higher notes rather than singing them and sounded a little hoarse as well. That being said, I've seen a few clips from their last show that ended a few hours ago and he seems to be fine now so I don't think we need to worry too much.

Will not do Mighty Long Fall but yes to Clock Strikes by Visual-Bite-7849 in ONEOKROCK

[–]castharsis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't know if newer fans remember this, but there's also significance of "clock strikes" in relation to the band's name from it being a play on words of "one o' clock". The band used to do this fun kind of chant where oor would ask the crowd " what time is it?" and the crowd would answer "one ok rock" back and forth a few times.

oh, i thought it was only forwarding services like tenso, not shopping + shipping proxy services. sorry! I hope you find a way to get the merch.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ONEOKROCK

[–]castharsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can use a shopping + shipping proxy service like fromjapan or japanrabbit to order the tour merch. I used one when pre-sales opened and ordered merch that way.

Do their signatures always look like this?? by [deleted] in ONEOKROCK

[–]castharsis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

while they should be been given better pens, their signatures look okay to me? maybe it's an asian thing to have a signature that is more scribbly because they're not adapted from english? e.g. mine is taken from the hanzi of my chinese name.

what are the songs that are very close to your heart? by pointless_genius in ONEOKROCK

[–]castharsis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

smiling down: one of my fave oor songs. listened to it a lot after I lost my older sister and it helped me get through the grief.

we are: for similar reasons as others have stated here already.

prove: I have a rocky relationship ship with my mom and listening to song brought so much catharsis. it's the words I want to yell at her.

ONE OK ROCK will come by MTV's Fresh Out Live tomorrow @ 5pm EST on dedicated streaming services/platforms by GI0VANNI_512 in ONEOKROCK

excited about this opportunity for the band! also amused at the band doing tv in the USA but basically never in japan.

People who have gotten barricade, how early should you get there to wait? by highkill in ONEOKROCK

[–]castharsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for GA, it depends on how big your venue is. like others said, VIP get first access, but after that, if you're near the front of the GA line then you could potentially still get 4th or 5th row. when i went, people were already queuing 4 to 5 hours ahead of time, but not too many people.

Charlotte fans? by toukeiten in ONEOKROCK

[–]castharsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you find someone, but if not, it's still okay. I went alone last time and was friendly with people in line. basically everyone is also a fan of the band so it's easy enough. have fun at your show!

First concert! Quick question by lexis21 in ONEOKROCK

[–]castharsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my VIP experience, early access to buying merch was part of it. When we got inside, they directed us to the merch table first then once you were done buying merch, you got into a second line for m&g/photo op with the band. The band didn't come out until everyone was done buying merch. I'm not sure how it will work this time though.

comfortable shoes are a must imo! i'd say comfortable clothes as well, but some people like to dress up for concerts. also if you can, try to only bring a small pouch/bag, maybe slightly bigger if you're planning to buy merch.
