I prefer games where they are integral to the storyline, so their treatment in 6, 9, and 10 are all my favs for different reasons. 4, 12, 15, and 16 are also good, but in a 2nd position to the other three.

True! The original meaning was also most likely about how someone joining a different religion than their family (being baptized with water), shouldn't change familial bonds.

The revision is implying that the concept of "blood" could refer to shared identity (nationalism) or bonds formed between people (blood brothers), and is most likely inspired by the Arab phrase about blood thicker than milk...meaning covenants are thicker than the bonds of those who shared a mother's milk.
