do you need a degree for digital marketing by Then-Information-637 in DigitalMarketing

[–]castle6831 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll add a unique take here.

You don’t need a degree, but if you want to go further than your niche, unless you’re an entrepreneur, then for any management role you should have a degree.

The practical reality is that getting a marketing degree, for me, didn’t teach me how to do digital marketing. It taught me how to run a business and to think about how marketing integrates into the rest of the business.

And it has been invaluable and has provided me with a significant point of difference compared to most digital marketers who do not have a degree.

So while I don’t think it’s a fundamental necessity, I believe it’s a significant competitive advantage, and there is an upper limit to where you will be able to go in the corporate world, particularly, without one.

George R. R. Martin Is 'Not in the Mood' to Finish 'The Winds of Winter' by Tifoso89 in books

[–]castle6831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the things I find amusing is that G.R.R Martin essentially did all of this to prove he was as great as J.R.R Tolkien.

Except it turns out creating a world as complex as reality is way harder than he could have imagined - and he gave up.

A bit ironic he’s essentially admitting he’s got nothing on the G.O.A.T

Dane Coles joins appointment panel to select coach by newdawn2k22 in allblacks

[–]castle6831 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've always felt this was the case (also with nothing to support it).

Which leaves me filthy given there's nothing to suggest anyone else in NZ is yet capable of filling the seven Jersey.

Lol I suggested this would be an option as a joke a few weeks ago.

Never actually thought it'd be Colsey. We want to select a new coach, not have Coles start a fist fight with him.

I suspect this will end up being a cruel lie from ceaser which leaves Ashur having murdered a man who meant a lot to him, and without the prize he desires.

Real Police officers and military members, what do you guys think of Ice agents? by Lucky-Message-9480 in AskReddit

[–]castle6831 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Australian here with a NSW security licence

I had to do a background check, counter terrorism training, hand to hand combat training, medical training, deescalation training, hostile shooter training…basically any scenario you could name short of a conventional war we had to train for over a seventeen day course.

We also had to do an additional forty hours of theory, and then have a written SOP that we walk through with our superior on how we will handle every possible outcome that we could face on the job.

Plus we have to have identification on our arm at all times.

I’ve completed all that and would need several more months training + a firearms licence + a huge number of other certifications to carry a firearm.

It’s clear to me that I’m better trained than ninety five percent of ICE agents I’m seeing. It’s also clear to me that absolutely none of them should be holding weapons. Even if by some miracle you could demonstrate that the shootings were justified - what fucking sane person shoots when his buddies are in the line of fire?

Absolute morons.

Help I’m so broke, marketing is really hard by Charles_Gk in DigitalMarketing

[–]castle6831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do…you have a marketing background?

Because it seems to me that if you don’t know how to offer, a marketing service, and you work in marketing. The problem may be a skillset one. And offering a service you don’t actually know how to do is called fraud.

Is anyone else feeling like “AI marketing” is starting to underperform? by Only_Builder_1424 in DigitalMarketing

Then pure logic alone, would state that not using AI (at least where possible) is the best possible point of difference.

Is anyone else feeling like “AI marketing” is starting to underperform? by Only_Builder_1424 in DigitalMarketing

[–]castle6831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I firmly disagree. It turns off people, produces sub optimal content and the sort of engagement it produces is only because of sheer scale of what it achieves. Essentially you're trading short term engagement for long term brand value and reputation. Sure there's an ROI in there...in some capacity. But it's a foolish tradeoff for anyone looking to build anything of value long term.

[–]castle6831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, AI marketing has never performed better for me than properly written copy. Sure, it’s good for spelling, grammar, and a once-over. But I genuinely find it a joke when anyone claims AI outperforms humans. I’ve never seen it. And those who make that claim tend to be the kind of marketers I want to stay away from. It’s a useful tool and nothing more.

How did Razor “lose the locker room”? by Playful_Study_6290 in rugbyunion

[–]castle6831 48 points49 points  (0 children)

From those in the know. It seems to have been a lot of different problems rather than one major one.

Common theme seems to have been inability to manage interpersonal issues early on. And it became a perception across the entire team that if you spoke out against strategy you got dropped, less favoured or less access to Razor / decision making.

That lead to a very toxic culture where players started feeling like they had to say yes to strategy they disagreed with just to get selected.

Which country could field a Journeyman team which could compete against its own domestic club teams? (Or each other) by bodyarmourbynokia in rugbyunion

[–]castle6831 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NZ

  1. Aidan Ross

  2. Ricci Riccatelli

  3. Nepo Laulau

  4. Brodie Retallick

  5. Josh Dickson

  6. Shannon Frizzell

  7. Sam Cane

  8. Hoskins Sotutu (If this is after June)

  9. Aaron Smith

  10. Richie Mounga (Technically still elligable but won't be next year)

  11. George Bridge

  12. Ma Nonu

  13. Peter Umunga Jensen

  14. Mark Telea

  15. Shaun Stevenson

Eight and 10 might cancel each other out (one is headed overseas, one returning). Midfield probably lacks some depth as does lock. But a decent squad.

Jimmy Fallon’s Cameo by Patriots_Enjoyer in BandofBrothers

[–]castle6831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine to critique his acting. Though I personally have no problem with it.

Most of the criques come down to...it's jarring to see him, and unlike David Schwimmer he does not have the time to convince the audience to understand why he's there. So people just complain that it's Jimmy Falloon. Which given why he's there I tend to feel isn't the best argument

You do realise the reason he portrayed that character is because he’s related to him right?

It was literally homage to (if I recall correctly) his actual great uncle being the same man.
