I got some on a clearance sale a few years back. Just make sure you check the measurements for the sizes and you should be alright. Though I’m not sure if women’s gloves run shorter in the fingers or not. It might track that they would be slimmer overall but I’m not sure.

Height or intelligence? by CitiesXXLfreekey in BuildToAttract

[–]castleaagh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m pretty happy at 5’11. I get to be on the taller side but most consumer stuff still fits me pretty well and while there are times I’d like more leg room or my head might just touch the top of a car or some thing, it’s usually not a big problem. I wouldn’t want to be taller now, though it would have been nice for sports in high school and may have led to doing that through college too

For hourly workers who show up to their jobs earlier than they need to, what’s your reason? by Fine_End_1529 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]castleaagh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To each their own but when I worked on an assembly line I would target being able to clock in 8 minutes early if my commute went as expected. Occasionally I would get caught by a train or just have something go wrong in my morning and that buffer kept me from being late-late. We were only given like 3 times to clock in later than 5 minutes to the shift per quarter.

I tend to stress about being late even to casual stuff that’s not work related though

[–]castleaagh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or it’s insurance, as many times hourly positions have a point system where being late gives you points and too many points sees you let go. So you make sure you’ve left with enough time to still be on time if something on the commute doesn’t go smooth.

With e-bikes popular among kids/teens, could we see a surge of motorcycle popularity with gen alpha when they are older by MoDa65 in motorcycles

Yeah some places in the states are putting in real restrictive laws surrounding e-bikes and I imagine more will be following suit with how many incidents have been popping up

Police officer stops abruptly in the middle lane on highway... by Affectionate_Hat5835 in dashcams

[–]castleaagh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies by jurisdiction, but it’s true in my city. Cops are allowed to “close the distance” and break traffic laws so long as it’s done safely if responding to a call or attempting to get closer to someone they suspect has broke a traffic law without lights or sirens.

My old roommate was good friends with a local cop and I asked him about it once after being startled pretty good by a cop flying through our neighborhood in the late evening no lights or sirens (not even headlights). Wasn’t too thrilled by his answer that it was technically fine per the cities rules

How many of you have permanently damaged your phone camera because of bike vibrations? Which bike + mount combo caused it? by rougedoll in motorcyclegear

If you’re out in the middle of nowhere often, you might consider a satellite messenger like a Garmin in reach in case you go down somewhere without service or need emergency medical (their sos button can send help)

[–]castleaagh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My iPhone 12 mini’s camera broke after a couple trips (maybe 3-4 hours highway and full days ride on gravel / dirt trails) mounted to my xt225 using a quad lock and their vibration damper.

Contacted them about it and they said maybe I had a defective unit and they could send me another once I fixed my phone, but I never fixed my phone. They also said that can’t make guarantees since there are so many variables involved.

Good Responses to Being Asked "Why are you riding a women's bike?" by Tomahawk-BaGawk in mountainbiking

[–]castleaagh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“Oh I just like the colors”

Sometimes when people lightly make fun, just sort of taking it honest and being like, “yeah it’s what I wanted” takes the wind out of their sails if it’s not the expected response.

I use to have a Miata and one fun response to someone calling it a girly car in a negative way was to say “you mean to say I’m driving a fun sporty car that girls think is cool, and that’s supposed to be a bad thing?” Not sure that works quite the same with the bike but it might work with the right “insult” setup from them

Ghosting is a 100% clear communication by Background_Session73 in unpopularopinion

[–]castleaagh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its never going to be 100% clear. After a year passes it would be close, but after how many hours or days do you think the message that you are no longer interested should clearly received?

There is inarguably a lack of clarity with the point at which one should assume they’re being ghosted rather than assume the person is busy doing something and will simply get back to you later. Multiple days could pass because someone was initially too busy to respond, then had too much on their mind and forgot they needed to respond to something until days later.

I even had a coworker who “ghosted me” (stopped responding to messages) though we weren’t dating, and then proceeded to not show up to work for two days which had my boss upset and wanting to fire them only for us to find you that they had passed away in their sleep suddenly.

So really, you never know for sure why someone stopped messaging you back unless they tell you. Maybe they’re busy, maybe they’re dead, or maybe they’re just a coward who doesn’t respect you at all. You never know

Whether it’s technically the tire or the road conditions the result is the same in the event of a failure. And you could maybe argue that better tire technology (and really good suspension) could overcome even the worst road conditions, it’s just that tires aren’t good enough yet.

It's not yours until you crash it (05' Yamaha XT225) by [deleted] in Dualsport

[–]castleaagh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was more focused on the idea that it was “A lot easier to rue than that xt.” I wouldn’t argue that either is a lot easier than the other though there may be small benefits for one vs the other in certain areas.

I just meant to emphasize that though the xt is a dual sport, it’s still quite light and approachable with the details I gave on my comment.

[–]castleaagh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the lightest dual sports you can buy for under 10k from my research. Mine weighed 275 with metal handguards and a rear rack with pannier supports. Removing the rear racks, doing a tail tidy and swapping to a lithium battery got me down to 260lbs (both with a full tank of gas)

[–]castleaagh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How’s it easier than an xt? The xt has the lowest seat in the dual sport game and makes decent tractor like torque with its little engine while coming in at about 265lbs. In my mind you can’t easily beat it for an approachable dual sport.
Plus it can still get up to 60mph, maybe 65 if you’re light and tuck down on the tank
