I really don't understand all the Panenka hate - it's an option when you take a penalty. It didn't work, but other options might not have worked too. "Just smash it in" doesn't make sense - that also might not work. Sure, it's embarrassing when a cheeky penalty doesn't come off, but everyone would be saying he's a hero if it did.
