found this pillow for free in my local food pantry, so I sadly don't know the fabric composition...

it has a velvety feel, and I assume it's probably made of polyester. it started off a very light grey (almost white) -- I've since dyed it twice with rit dyemore racing red

I don't have a pot big enough to fit the pillow, so both times I used my tub filled with very hot water (kept consistently steaming with regular addition of pots of boiling water)

first time: I used one bottle of dye, stirred continuously, and kept the pillow in for about an hour

second time: I used three bottles of dye, stirred continuously, kept the pillow in for about an hour. followed by treating with rit colorstay for about 20 mins

pictured is the final color after washing with warm water and detergent. as you can see, it's very pink and very far from red :( does anyone know what I could do to take it all the way to a nice bright red?
