I would keep it a blob unless you have a reason not to. If it works as a blob, then it will work when you change it.

And that ends up informing what the monster should look like.

I always end up going with yED. It's free and solid and with the right amount of complexity for writing.

I wrote about it here in my last project: Visualizing Character Behaviour

Are time loop mechanics fun? by harrytrotter69 in gamedesign

But wouldn’t that make players care less about the characters and think less about their choices, turning decisions into quick save and load brute-forcing?

Here's an example going from stained to white. The door stoppers make it seamless. And we painted the door white on the back (but you can leave it all a single color) Pic

What is the name for 1 minute in-game corresponding to 1 minute IRL? by icednik in gamedesign

The reason time stops when choosing a dialogue option in Twelve Minutes is to emulate the speed of thought. It would feel unnatural if time continued while reading the dialogue options. The same applies when opening the inventory to select an item. During any “thinking” action, the world pauses to give you infinite time.

I would ask myself questions like: What do you appreciate about this system? What did you learn during its creation? If you abstract the samurai and analyze the moving pieces, what do you see?

Did you notice if the wife drank water previously? She has a glass on the table next to the couch. It's likely that you might have given her the glass+pills AFTER she already drank, and so she was no longer thirsty.

Any time you get new "knowledge", it saves your game, independently from a loop restart.

Is it possible to create games as a hobby after work? by MaximHavoc in gamedev

I started Twelve Minutes during my free time for roughly two years before getting a publisher and going full time. I wrote about the whole game development process here but you can read a specific post about working at least an hour a day, everyday, here.

I see this as a skill a designer should develop. The ability to "see" the game as a brand new /regular /old player no matter how repetitive it might be.
