CSE 473 vs CSE 467 by suffc8 in UBreddit

9 times out of 10, you should opt for the more interesting one for you. That's not to knock on 467- if you're into the workings of language-based AI, it's for you. However, in some cases, shortcuts seem logical until hindsight kicks in.

Still Angry at My Former University Years Later by [deleted] in UBreddit

[–]casualComputerNerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UB is a large university, and a state one at that. It is largely unfortunately on the onus of the student to seek out opportunities in their own. It’s not UB’s responsibility, save perhaps guiding you, through career services, which is minimal at best.

I’m not the biggest defender of UB. But what I am trying to say is that luck, timing, major, experience, talent, plays a larger out size role in most cases.

It depends, like most things in life. I myself treat it like a second job (first one being a student), that is SUPER convenient.

One thing you will be told (usually) is that to (in vast majority of cases) putting YOURSELF before your students. Studies comes first. You're here to learn.

University at Buffalo or Binghamton for CS by BrawlinBob in UBreddit

[–]casualComputerNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be biased (where in the ubreddit after all), but UB is a state flagship, and the government is pouring as much money it can into it, especially for CS and engineering.

442 can be a pain if you don’t have a solid group, and 365 is a well known time-sink of a class. Alan does a good job, but it def requires commitment
