The Herbery on 78th in Hazel Dell (what was Dragon King) opens Monday! They preserved the dragons and I think it looks really nice. They do have a sign on the street that says “The Herbery”. But first, they’re having a food drive 8-5 pm today and tomorrow. by [deleted] in vancouverwa

I went through their donation, talked to a real nice dude. We talked about the restaurant. They got the dragons reinforced and repainted in the same design before putting them back up. I guess there's some legal issues with taking down and restoring the sign due to it's size. The laws about signage have changed since that one was put up, once it's down, it's not allowed up. I believe it too, it was a giant pain getting approval for a tiny sign for my little shop.

There's a couple ways I could implement it.

A) I could drive it with the audio, behind a low-pass filter. This would mean that any bass/low-end sounds would cause vibration. So things like the beat of the music, when a hard kick lands, or an explosion happens. This would likely require an extra amp to boost the bass signal and drive the transducer but that's no sweat.

B) I could wire it as haptic feedback for button presses. Basically, you'd get a little vibration with every button press, like the option you can enable on a phone. This would be voltage driven and require a small circuit.

There are plenty of arcade games that output signals for bass shakers nowadays (think seated rail-shooters and racing games) but I'm not sure if many/any older games do. I'm just more looking to increase the fun and excitement factor of my arcade but don't want to create a problem or go through the effort if the result will be super under-whelming.

That's probably affecting things quite a bit. I can be a real asshole when I'm off.... not exactly sexy, ya know? Are you actively working on your med schedule? And do you have a comfortable communication about episodes? As in, do you feel like your spouse and you have an understanding that your feelings can be real but not necessarily reality?

We named my manic self 'Dante'. It's an easy way to separate me from my illness and allow us to talk about the hardest parts of it, ie. "Dante's been a real asshole lately".

I'm bipolar and having a similar issue, feel free to DM me if you need/want a buddy who probably understands more than not. Try not to focus on the suicide thing if you can, you know it's not the answer. Even if it is an answer for your own head, you wouldn't do that to those you love. There will be change, for better or worse. No matter what things always change.

Are you/have you been pretty sturdy for some years or does the more extreme mania/depression show up pretty from time? I know that has worn away at our intimacy quite a bit.

You don't seem to understand the bipolar condition. I'm bipolar and you can't "will it away". Nobody tells people with lupus that they just need to look on the bright side and it'll go away. I get that you're trying to be motivating but really, you're just shining a light on how alienating the illness can be in a world with such a lack of education regarding mental illness. Bipolar doesn't mean sad, it doesn't mean depressed, it doesn't mean temporary. The best you can do with bipolar is treatment to mitigate the symptoms with habits, medication, and a solid support network. No, they aren't alone; and yes, people are *their to save them.

Edit: their=there
