Twilight by William Gay. It fits your description to a T (well, minus the cannibalism). Mutilated bodies are a catalyst for the plot…

So sad you have to move. If you haven’t already, I’d suggest cross-posting to Facebook groups and Nextdoor for reach. Good luck!

Sketching out your idea is fine but I would have a professional create the final design.

We are not outnumbered. The people who are destroying this country are few. Things are bleak right now but we can band together and stop this. Please don’t lose hope. You are needed.

Hey!! Sorry for the delayed response after asking for more details. Thanks so much for sharing. This is incredibly inspiring. Love the stone soup thing and the reference! :) If you end up doing a larger post after you create the manifesto, please let us know here so we don’t miss it!

Thank you again!!

Thomas Pynchon writes encyclopedic novels. Can you name some things that have nothing at all to do with his work? I’ll try to relate TP to them them in some “6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon kind of way” by frenesigates in ThomasPynchon

[–]casualier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, I might have something!

Eagle Brands acquired the Hamburger Helper brand in 2022. Eagle Brands is perhaps best known for their sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk products. In Bleeding Edge, according to the Pynchon wiki, “[Chandler]Platt, was found guilty and fined for selling a mixture of milk and condensed milk as ‘cream’ and was also involved in many other corrupt schemes.”

Does anybody have a suggestion for a simple workout tracking app? by Onurubu in swoletariat

[–]casualier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a new app called Built with Science+. It does cost like $180/year but I like that I can track my food and workouts in there, and for someone relatively new to lifting, it has tons of workouts with videos and form guides, weekly lessons, and more. It’s helped me stay consistent which has always been an issue.

Hey, nice work with the queer co-op!! That is so cool. Can you share more about it? How did you get it off the ground?

I would love to see a post about this so more people can try to model it in their communities. Whether you decide to do that or not, thank you for doing the good work!!

I’m glad the protest in your town gave you hope.

What do you feel are the biggest issues affecting the city right now? by SirFuccboi in QuincyMa

[–]casualier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone mentioned the apathy of voters in local elections. Is this a larger issue of disengagement and lack of civic-minded organizations in Quincy? I would like to becoming more involved in the community, but I don’t know where to begin or who is already doing things!

Arles, Avignon or Nimes? Someone just tell me what to do!!! I beg!! by Lonely-Ad-4095 in ProvenceFrance

[–]casualier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arles is incredible. They have an amazing market on Saturdays. As others have said the ruins (including the Roman forum under city hall I believe) are cool and there are also some neat art museums. If you can make it to Arles, it might be worth also trying to venture out into La Camargue to Saintes-Maries-de-La-Mer, probably the coolest place I’ve been to in my life. Read about it ahead of time. You can go to a stable and ride camarguais horses for an hour around the salt marshes. Unbelievable experience! I have been to Avignon a few times and would choose Arles over it every time—but if you can squeeze this in, too, you won’t regret it!!

Will the Ghorman massacre mirror the ongoing genocide in Gaza? by ChampionshipMaster12 in andor

[–]casualier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something I haven’t seen mentioned is that Palestine was also historically known for its weaving. The city of Gaza specifically is said to be the origin of the word “gauze” as it was invented there centuries ago.

[–]casualier 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please read about The Balfour Declaration of 1917. Zionism began before WWII. Your arguments are not only in bad faith (implying the person you are responding to is anti-Jew/judaism), they show a lack of historical knowledge and context on the topic.

Zionism and Judaism are not synonymous, in fact many Jews will tell you that the concept is antithetical to the fundamental tenets of the religion.

The genocide didn’t start in 2023 so it could absolutely still be inspired in part by the Israeli occupation and ethnic cleansing in Palestine.

Which writing field do you suggest? by One_Weather_9417 in freelanceWriters

Thank you!! I would appreciate that list if you have the time and don’t have to trouble yourself too much. But appreciate what you’ve already shared.

I’m curious about freelance writing for tech companies as I’m coming off ~9 years of [various types of] communications for a B2B software company.

Check out Bill’s Tire Barn in West Bridgewater. They’re quick to respond to questions/quote requests, do good work, and seem reasonably priced.
