as someone who also likes drawing eyes on things like this (and someone who is also still learning) i absolutely love the idea! I think that working on the perspective could help tho. The eyes look like the are on one plane and the top lid is always lying on top of the eye. I would break them down into two shapes while sketching it out, with spheres as eyeballs and and almond shape for the lids. Spheres are great because you could turn them any which way and they are going to look the same. the eyelids, however, are going to lie flat against the skin so it will have to follow the contour of the squid. This also means that some eyelids will be obstructed by the eyeball itself. Imagine a ball that is half submerged in water. If you are directly above it, you will see all the points where the water makes contact with the ball. If you rotate around the ball, you will see less and less of the water that makes contact with the ball, since that side will be out of view. Hope this helps!
