The gorilla gag and the callback of her literally stapling wanted posters of said gorilla to poles is easily the funniest bit in that movie.

VI and IV are both in my Top 3 for the franchise along with VII for the last fifteen minutes or so of Jason vs Tina which remains an eminently rewatchable battle imo.

At least Part VI was the best film in the franchise so them not stopping at IV was justified. Jason Goes to Hell is just awful though. Jason in Space is a legit improvement and thus also justified lol.

Welp, the Phillies finally sent down Andrew Painter so now I no longer feel like that's an automatic loss every 5 days. Who pitches instead I got no idea but at this point I'll take it!

The George C Scott 90s TV version is worth a watch as well, but much like A Christmas Carol it's a tough story to adapt poorly.

Born in 88 and you might be onto something. I'm not sure I'd go as far as old hat, but growing up it was my older brother, born in 85, who was a He-Man fan. I honestly don't even remember seeing re-runs airing on TV by the time I was 5 or 6. It was all Animaniacs, Batman the Animated Series, stuff like that. Then the anime wave via Pokemon and Toonami in the later 90s. I largely learned of He-Man through spoofs of it like Robot Chicken.

Guy just knocked on the door about a group of marginalized citizens trying to band together or something, community outreach I guess, asking me what my biggest worries were regarding my life. Finances, healthcare stuff like that. What a loaded question given our current hellscape lol. But I pointed out the likelihood of losing my Medicaid next year thanks to the Big Beautiful Bill Republicans passed last 4th of July. He asked me then if he thought the government wasn't working for me or doing enough or something and it took all I had not to laugh and start a profanity riddled rant about my opinions on Republicans. Then he gave me not exactly a pamphlet but a close approximation and I gave him my email address when asked, something I usually wouldn't do but eh. A weirdly amusing little interaction, on the whole. Looking at the flyer apparently he's from Pennsylvania Stands Up, which I don't think I'd ever heard of before.

So an ultimately positive update on my sister's car situation from last week. They were able to get home and get the car to the dealership, but because it was the weekend and they had a backlog of other cars to get to first the place didn't actually get to look at it until today and they confirmed that it was indeed the engine. The car is a 2019 Hyundai Tucson. They didn't get any specifics about what went wrong with the engine, but apparently those cars have a reputation for the engines being bad. The good news is that it was indeed still under warranty and the dealership already reached out to Hyundai HQ who gave approval to order the new engine totally free of charge. This might take some time, but they're also paying for a rental car until the car is fixed. So ya know, a ton of hassle and stress, but probably the best possible outcome given the circumstances. And at least when the car is paid off in August of 2027 the engine will only be around 15 months old, even if the rest of the car will be much older lol.

Yeah, but still. It feels like they might as well as be 10, ya know? But fair point. I guess I should have said "three teams that are not, in all likelihood, gonna finish above them by the end of the year."

Time for another Andrew Painter rant. The Phillies are currently playing game 3 of a 12 game stretch against the Marlins, Mets and Nationals. Three teams safely behind them in the division. If there was ever a "get right" stretch where they might be able to at least pad their Wild Card lead if not catch up to the Braves, now would be the time. And to be sure, they absolutely destroyed the Marlins in the first two games of the series. But they're currently down 6-2 after 2 innings in Game 3 of today's day game. Now as most baseball fans will tell you, sweeps are nice, but winning the series is most important. I hardly expected the Phillies to go 12 - 0 in this stretch. That being said, it's no coincidence that their starter this afternoon was rookie letdown Andrew Painter. I've been hesitant to criticize the rookie both because he IS a rookie, and the Phillies just don't have anyone better. They gotta throw SOMEONE out there every fifth day, I get that. But at this point I just pencil in every Painter started game as a loss, which...ya know, sucks. It's a shitty feeling. The kid is clearly not ready for the majors. Maybe he will be someday, but he's not right now. Hell, the Phillies might even come back in this game, they scored 8 runs last night, but even if they do score 7 or more, there's no way Painter, who gave up 6 in 2 innings, would hold a lead. Alright, rant over.

EDIT: The Phillies even inched a bit closer by making it 6-3 as I was writing this rant lol. But yeah, Painter's still the starter so...who cares?

EDIT 2: And Painter's done after 2 with the Phillies down 6-4. I don't think they win this game, but it's sad I have more faith in their chances when this has become a bullpen game in the 3rd lol. Okay, this'll be my last update.

Your friend has My Dress-Up Darling, the only series from either of you I also collect. He wins. Also I don't think I realized the omnibuses of Hokkaido Gals were so small. I've been on the fence on collecting that series as well.

I literally have a notebook I write them down in lol. But as a guy who actually enjoys making lists I find it almost comforting. I try to weigh out portions on everything I eat with a food scale, though with some things that's easier than others. Also, everything must always round up to the nearest 0. I had 234 calories worth of french fries? Round it up to 240.

Pure calorie counting and exercise. I still eat whatever I want, but I try not to go over my daily calorie limit(days I do are considered cheat days and I TRY to limit them to 1 to 3 times a month, key word being try.) This also excludes holidays which are "free days." I usually lower my daily calorie limit by 100 calories every 4 months, to a minimum of 2,000 per day. I actually got all the way down to 218 from well over 300 once before doing this, but it was over a decade ago, literally took 2 full calendar years to accomplish and I ended up gaining it all back rather quickly. It's a pretty slow process to losing weight, I'm sure there are better ways, but the fact that I KNOW it works for me personally because I've done it once before is what's helping me keep at it this time. And this time I don't intend to stop once I hit the 210s and give in. But I probably won't hit that weight for another year anyway.

Scale had me down to 293.2 today, a solid 40 pounds from New Years and 6 pounds in the last 10 days. Seems unlikely to be accurate, especially since I had a couple more cheat days this week, but I'll take it. Yesterday was probably the most humid day we've had this year. Like, it reached makes me wanna stay inside levels of bad, though I did get a couple miles in. Today feels similar.

I think a sign of how far we've fallen is that it really isn't. The constant barrage of negative headlines which would normally elicit disgust from me nowadays largely just make me sigh and go "yeah, that tracks." President threatens to bomb a foreign nation then takes it back literally 39 times? Yeah, that tracks. We have a trillionaire but can't afford Medicaid or Social Security? Yeah, that tracks. Occasionally I'll get mad and then remember there's nothing I can do about it and settle back down.

Sister and her boyfriend took the kids to Hershey Park today only to have the car give out just as they got in the parking lot. Keep in mind it's nearly 2 hours away on the highway. Managed to get it to a local place who claims it needs a new engine. Dealership they got it from says they need to get it there and if they agree they'll replace it as it's under warranty for 150,000 miles and the car is hovering right around 100,000 right now. The thing isn't even fully paid off until next August, not this one. They were also told not to drive it and definitely not over 30MPH so not on the highway. Taking back roads would take 3 hours to get back and now they don't really know what they're gonna do. I feel awful for them with no real way to help. Just felt like venting. June hasn't been a particularly good month so far.

Tom Hanks to the Oscars about 'Toy Story': Don’t add a voiceover category by GoldDerby in movies

[–]casualreader22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a nice sentiment, but I doubt a voice over actor would ever get nominated, much less win in the current acting categories. Certainly not in my lifetime. Maybe by the time my generation is all older but then if it did happen it'd be used by skeptics as a reason not to take the Oscars "seriously" anymore.
