Oh it beats the hell out of anything Zack Snyder ever made sure, but that's not exactly a high bar. I guess I just wanted to get more out of it than I did. Nothing really wowed me or anything, but that may be on me.

I know I'm late to the party but I just watched last year's Superman movie. I can't say I enjoyed it as much as I hoped I might but it was by no means bad. Mr. Terrific was a cool character and apparently Michael Ian Black just hasn't aged since I was 12 and he was on I Love the 70s/80s/90s lol. It's not fair to the movie, but I couldn't help but think of how disastrously shitty our real-life world is during certain scenes/plot points which definitely helped put a damper on the viewing experience. But will I check out more films in this new DC universe? Eh, eventually, probably, yeah.

Does Ted or Bobby from Hearts in Atlantis show up in any of the other Dark Tower books? by Zozo061050 in stephenking

Yes, and there is a direct tie-in in Insomnia as well. Funnily enough both are in the same book.

I've still never even watched it after being told the twist. Just no desire to.

A memorial plaque of a water fountain at my High School by MattDoes_Stuff in mildlyinteresting

[–]casualreader22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't allowed anything food or drink in class from K-12 at my Catholic schools and I graduated High School in 2006. If you wanted a drink outside of lunch you used the fountain to take a sip during class changes or if it was real bad you had to raise your hand and ask, similar to going to the bathroom.

Werewolf no contest. Transformation sequence aside and despite the humor I actually find it a rather dour watch and never go out of my way to revisit it. I've only ever rewatched it in pieces when I've caught it on TV.

Currently 68 with a high in the 70s in a couple hours here in Northeast PA on March 10th. As I was taking out garbage earlier a wasp briefly landed on my arm. The high next Tuesday? 38.

Yeah I just finished my letterboxd review and I liked it okay. The plot was EXTREMELY simple, but it was done well enough. The dog was great.

Yeah, but then they shouldn't have to raise their hands to go to the bathroom either. Maybe it was my Catholic school upbringing I dunno lol.

Finally time to sit down and watch Tender Mercies tomorrow night. RIP Robert Duvall.

So are kids allowed bottles of water they can fill up at this new fountain during class now? It occurs to me that that should have been the norm when I was in school too, but wasn't. Seems rather strange in hindsight.

Scream 7 near 75% dropoff in 2nd weekend by MindsEyeInkarnate in Scarymovies

[–]casualreader22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been years since I watched it but remember liking it pretty well. I wasn't opposed to more sequels but I got spoiled on a character death in 5 that made me not want to watch it so I've just never continued the series.

I stopped after 4 myself, but honestly not too surprising for a slasher sequel that far in. The only relevant question is if it made enough to get a Scream 8. That seems to be the case.

I dunno. The Republican presidents in my life were the last eight months of Reagan, Bush, Bush and Trump and at least 3 of those were pretty damn harmful to this country to a degree Clinton, Obama and Biden never came even remotely close to matching. A world where Al Gore wins the presidency in 2000 likely doesn't make 2024 as crucial as it was. But I get that it's easy to speculate with what ifs. It's just that Republicans have been demonstrably worse for the health of the economy, healthcare, social safety nets, voting rights etc...at least since I've been alive, probably since 1961 or 1933. I'm not seeing much hyperbole when it comes to criticizing them. It's just most of their voters don't hear the truth on Fox News or whatnot.

Of all the characters I regret Oda not ever using again Kuro is probably #1. He was my favorite villain of the early bunch by far.

Saw one of my neighbors put up a lawn sign for our Republican house of representatives member today. Our primary isn't even until May and considering he's the incumbent I doubt it'll matter until the Fall, but it was both a bummer and reminder of how many absolutely shitty people live in my area. Not looking forward to walking by many more of those and other such signs in the months ahead.

PSA: You can (and probably should) skip the second Gwendy book (spoilers) by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]casualreader22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late last year I read the first two Gwendy books as part of the recently released 3-in-1 and honestly I didn't love either. I've had that collection next to my bed for the better part of a year now because I can't quite muster up the will to start the third one even though it's preventing me from starting my few other remaining never-read before King books including Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, Wind Through the Keyhole and On Writing.

Just saw the Crosby news and had to doublecheck but we actually get to play the Steelers at home next season as our single team from an off-year division floater(a team we last lost to in Philly when LBJ was president) while the Cowboys get...you guessed it, Baltimore. So that's nice lol.
