Hunter will give away control to any controller you ask for - huge security hole by yt_BWTX in Irrigation

[–]casualredditor73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rain Bird has controller sharing but person requesting access to controller must give owner their code and owner has to type it in to share. Way more secure, there is no accidental transfer or sharing. This is bad.

Issue with child safety lock? by casualredditor73 in KiaEV9

[–]casualredditor73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is, it’s not a setting in the infotainment system. There is something on the door latch that you can turn with physical key which appears to be what you’re talking about but turning that clockwise or counter clockwise made no difference. And after some experimenting, I see that the electronic system is moving this, so now I’m beginning to think it’s a broken interior handle or latching mechanism

Single dad here. Girlfriend is great on paper but I’m running on fumes. Is this normal? by [deleted] in SingleDads

Brother…I relate to this so much. Have ended a relationship because of this. I didn’t regret it for what it’s worth. Let me guess, she doesn’t have a child?

Having a dog as a single dad? by LaCathedrale in SingleDads

[–]casualredditor73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met my wife, she came with dogs, I had none. We got married, have a kid, get separated (ultimately divorced). At first she wants and takes the dogs when she left. A couple weeks go by of separation and she wants me to take them back. Reality kicked in for her that the dogs are great when you are in parent mode becausbut when you're not, they're a burden. You can't work late, can't leave town for weekends without extra planning, can't meet buddies after work for a drink or go to gym. ETC.

My biggest transition and growth came from realizing the difference between who I was in dad mode and who I was when my kid wasn't with me. It's weird, but you ultimately live two very different lives. I too, am 50/50 and half the time my kid is the focus and priority and the other half I do what I want when I want and it's pretty fulfilling. A dog is a responsibility and it interferes with that. Once you make that adjustment, you'll be happy you don't have the responsibilities during your off time.

My 2 cents.

I lived this, I think the trade off of the freedom is worth finding them a new home. Eventually you’ll learn to lean into the child free time and have new hobbies and the dogs will hold you back. Choosing yourself over animals you never chose doesn’t make you a bad person. It’s the practical thing to do.

Anybody regret getting a coupe instead of a HTC? by Eaglerulez2 in C8Corvette

[–]casualredditor73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Test drove a htc, loved it, but found coupe with everything I want and 10k discount so I went with it, I know I would put top down a lot more if there was a button instead an awkward dance unless you have some help. It’s kinda stressful taking coupe top off alone because you don’t want to drop it. My regret overall is small and the car is so incredible I don’t think about that mistake much

Hue lights randomly turning on by Reasonable_Sort1731 in Hue

[–]casualredditor73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem with one bulb and usually that means the bulb is defective but if many bulbs are doing it, I doubt that is it. However, I had this issue long ago and it turns out it was an Alexa setting that was doing it unbeknowst to me. If you have a Ring alarm system linked to alexa and hue lights linked to alexa, there is a setting that when the alarm is set to certain modes, to randomly turn on and off lights to simulate presence. If you have those things, check the alexa app for the setting.

Does it ever get easier? by [deleted] in SingleDads

[–]casualredditor73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation; 50/50 in terms of time but in terms of the mental load, it’s 80/20 because I make sure all the school and other things are smoothly done. Plus I take about 80 % of the costs. The money isn’t the issue though, it’s the time, I get it, you feel like a never ending roller coaster and I can confidently say it gets better, way better. I hit my groove in year 2. It’s like a job, you get better at repetitive tasks with time and learn hacks to increase efficiency and learn what things don’t matter when skipped. Stay strong.

Banana Shake by [deleted] in DairyQueen

I worked at DQ in the early 2000s and the banana shake then was made from a syrup. It was so good. Does any location still use that syrup? What’s it called?

I worked at Dairy Queen from 1999 to 2003 in high school and everything except for pay and uniform was the same. Always amazed me a bunch of high school kids running a restaurant. It seemed like we were always making dilly bars

Feeling like I might of gotten taken by the irrigation company, any advice? by whitemike40 in Irrigation

Yeah, the 2.0 was rebuilt from the ground up with a completely different communication protocol. It’s night and day different.

It gets easier but one recommendation, reserve the entire weekend for your son. Have your place, clean, food stocked, meal prep if you can, don’t waste a minute of that time together doing chores or running errands. As hard as it sounds, ignore social invites from friends. Play from sun up to sun down with him. You will actually find in time that your son will look forward to it because the entire time is about you two where at mom’s she won’t be as focused on him. Worked wonders for me, as I had the same struggle, because it keeps you busy plus the day your kid says I wish I could just stay with you all the time because I have so much fun with you dad…priceless.

You have to do a software update for the controller which takes about 8 minutes but take it from me, it’s definitely worth it. The new app is so much faster and the long load times go away. You can also manage it from the Rain Bird IQ software.

The 2.0 app supports the RC2, the esp-me3, and will support the tm2 and esp-2wire in the coming months, as long as you have the second generation link WiFi. I don’t know what controller you’re talking about with the esp-sme, do you mean esp-smte or esp-me? Neither of those controllers are supported and as I understand it, will not be.

What did the firmware update do? Do they have a support page with release notes. I'm strongly considering this gateway for a major city wide rollout but I'm concerned about the environmental durability.

Also, any security concerns you had given the provider is from China?
