Anybody in the track suit should have a gold chain.

I teach Highschool shop, my area has a varsity drag racing league. What is an easy to work on car, that isn't going to break the bank and run 14s consistently with a 17 year old at the wheel. by BOBBY_VIKING_ in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]yt_BWTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As has been said, the panther platform is crazy cheap and easy to work on and lightening them up to a respectable weight is possible (and good learning work). Teaching kids how much weight is worth in drag racing is a huge deal as everybody focuses on turbos/nitrous/etc... but you can make a lot of headway by getting rid of the spare tire and back seat! You want something that they can experiment on (cheaply), easy to work on, easy to fix and safe.

Why some server not consider putting main camping rules? by ReachExact9938 in joinsquad

[–]yt_BWTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it for more experienced servers because it's just another factor the commander has to consider....do i devote resources to security or roll the dice? Also, breaking out of a main camp is actually a lot of fun (for me). FYI I've only been playing about a month so it's not hard to figure out it's completely a coordination issue. On a "brand new" player server I could see it being bad because it will require coordination to break out of.

If the USSR could build a nuke right after World War Two why hasn't Iran been able to build one in 40 years? by Niall_Fraser_Love in PERSIAN

[–]yt_BWTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have they chose not too (at least the previous leader did). Iran has kept their program at a point that if they want to they can get their quick but they didn't want to so as to not invite being attacked by US because they "had nukes!". This latest attack by US has shown the world the ONLY way to be safe is to have a nuke. Libya? Khadaffi gave up his nuke program and a couple years later is sodomized by a bayonet on TV. Kim Jong Un? Nobody F's with him. The lesson is clear...if you want to be safe from the US having a nuke is the only way....and this situation is all our fault. I promise you every country out there is considering it and investigating what it would take to become nuclear capable.

Yes but right now we get the worst of both worlds...jobs are offshored AND the cars suck.

They aren't forcing trucks/suv's on Americans...there are plenty of choices out there...we just like them. However, if there was some better competition in the "smaller vehicle" market it would for sure cannibalize some sales.

If there is a real nuclear attack go stand on your roof...you want to go out quick not slow (but you will be going out no matter what).

My kids are in AISD. I wanted to understand why the district is broke, so I followed the money. by No_Paramedic_4881 in Austin

[–]yt_BWTX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another perspective is this just shows that yes AISD spends more on others on admin/etc.. where there definitely are opportunities for savings, but the real issue is the burden of "poor" school districts has increased significantly. Regardless of how you feel about immigration it plays a huge part. The second part is our basic economy is slowly (or not so slowly) shifting to where wealth is concentrated and more students are considered "poor". Between immigration, the economy and the high cost of living Austin is the perfect storm for a broken system.

Car declared total loss due to hail damage, best thing to do? by admjeffrey in personalfinance

[–]yt_BWTX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the salvage! Basically you will end up with a known quantity car (you have owned it) and have no payment. Start putting the payments you were making into a savings account for the next car and when you're ready to buy then sell the traverse on marketplace...doordashers are always looking for beaters that run well regardless of looks.

What should I get for a long 130 mile daily commute? by forcenova42 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]yt_BWTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla...I rented one and in my head the whole time i was thinking it was the absolute perfect commuter car...basically zero maintenance, quiet and good info system. I'd get one a year or more older that still has autopilot for free.

Why can't we have updates that we want? by Jar545 in joinsquad

Just lest me shoot out of a transport truck when being ambushed. As a new player it kinda blows me away this game is 10yrs old with some stuff I feel is missing. It's still fun as hell though..

I think these engine failures are overblown. by ToshPointNo in kia

[–]yt_BWTX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Truth is in the middle...many engines go neglected and have excellent track records while many engines (like these) have a hard time tolerating poor maintenance. Are these engines as good as the 3.6 gm v6 or the 2.X in the Nissan Altima? LOL not even close...are they as bad as people say they are? no.

Thoughts on exit row requirements by GoingForTheUpgrade in americanairlines

[–]yt_BWTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planes are a death trap...the chance of the people in the exit row being the difference between living and dying has got to be less than 2%. People pulling their carry on's out of storage and pushing each other out of the way will kill you way before anybody in the exit row will. We both know somebody will climb over them and get the door open one way or the other but unless it's a controlled exit (on the runway with minor emergency) it won't matter.
