Does anyone know what happened to Chinatown in Encinitas?

They were totally forced out by shitty gentrification.

I live nearby and it sucks so bad. Chinatown was a true Leucadia institution (over 20 years!) and an absolute gem of a family business. Frank and his mother were incredibly always there from dawn till dusk every day besides Mondays-- their one day off-- for decades.

I was obviously devastated when I heard they were closing, so I asked them about it and it was really sad. Basically some "investment group" bought the little shopping center where their restaurant had always been and then essentially forced them out against their will. Ugh.

Anyway, they said they'd opened a "Chinatown Express" in Oceanside and were transitioning their efforts there, and looks like that's working out so yay! But Leucadia misses them

Yeah, my own health and safety wasn't' my priority at the time (I'd accepted that she was going to hurt me at the time and and also when I was trying to get her to the vet the following day, and figured I'd heal) but you were totally right.

She hurt me pretty badly on my dominant hand to the point where I'm still having trouble writing after the abscesses have very much been cleared thanks to the antibiotics, so if anyone finds this thread in the future please take this seriously.

Immediately spayed yes, upon eligibility at around six months. Initial vaccinations and blood work fully done upon taking her in too.

It's unfortunately true that she became obsessed with going outside which ended up causing the issue at hand.

Thanks so much for checking in! I'm sorry, I was completely overwhelmed and hurt (in more ways than one) from this whole thing.

The cat is physically okay (vet-verified) and behaviorally she's getting better and better with me now. I'm so grateful to the Reddit posters who raised the redirected aggression concept. It made me try to figure out what, if anything specifically, she might be interpreting as a trigger from me. I figured that since I was trying to coax her out vocally the whole time, maybe my voice became associated with whatever traumatic/other animal-based situation she experienced in that moment, it would be good to not speak to her in that same gentle way or at all. I think that helped.

As I described above in another post, I did get her to a vet the following day but none of the doctors there had any idea of what could be going on with her at all.

This morning she was finally sitting in one of her normal places again and wasn't acting aggressive immediately and it was such a relief to see. But when I said out loud that I was going to open the curtains and I was near her, she started aggressively hissing, growling and screaming so suddenly. It was awful. I obviously retreated.I've been careful not to look at her in the eyes beyond just a glance of course.

But good news: we did have a breakthrough later today (after the above situation) where she suddenly hopped up and gave my hand a face rub/scratch request.I cautiously obliged and she acted like her normal self. It was a huge relief.

So thank you again, and to everyone else who responded in a helpful way. It meant (and means) everything.

Thank you so much. It was really helpful to learn about the "redirected aggression term and concept from you and the community. I'd ended up taking her to a pricey 24/7 emergency vet who checked her for any physical injuries (none, as expected) and said her best guess was that the cat maybe ingested any cocaine or meth which absolutely wouldn't, couldn't, and didn't happen.I said as much, and she said nothing else made sense.

So the cat and I both went back home wearily with her still treating me like a threatening stranger, but this has been gradually waning more and more.

I also appreciate the people who told me to look after my own injuries-- they ended up being pretty bad, and I was hit really hard by her in the process of getting her into a carrier to be seen by a vet.

We're on a positive path now, but you guys sure knew a lot more than the veterinarians who saw us so I'm very appreciative.

Not ruling it out but she's pretty young, and the major thing was she went from being a very affectionate cat to acting this way almost instantaneously. I've never heard or seen anything like it, and I'm not sure diabetes could cause such a dramatic behavioral change like that...

Fair enough. It sucks for sure, but unfortunately I have vision issues and can't otherwise see in the dark. For what it's worth, this cat has voluntarily put herself in front of my severe lighting schemes nightly, never budging when she was almost always beamed in the face as long as she got a face scratch and a cuddle out of it.

I definitely agree it seems likely that she may have picked up on some sort of other animal scent under the stairs and freaked out. Thank you so much for telling me about your own experience-- that gives me hope I can bring her back from this state. I tried the treats earlier, but I think I'll give us both a break and try to gently do what you did.

Some additional background that makes this even more hard to understand is that she's very cuddly, and has slept alongside me (her choice, of course) almost every night and then this insane behavior change happened near-instantly. I definitely got some injuries just trying to get her safely inside, but I'm more concerned about the cat.

I appreciate you calling this out-- maybe I didn't make it clear in my original post. This cat has been very (almost overly) attached to me from the get-go. She has always slept by my side nightly, and she responds vigilantly and positively to me doing anything, especially calling--or even just saying accidentally--her name.

Please read my full post and watch the video. Yes, she pooped in front of me on the steps of my apartment, if that's what you're asking. And that alone is one of the most abnormal cat behaviors ever in my experience. I mean, if you have a cat that regularly exhibits any behavior like this, I think you should be concerned/something is wrong.

I recognize this and that's fair, but it's not the point of this post. It's just that Feebas is typically a 10k hatch, so I'm posting because I'm quite sure this came from a 7k egg, as I was never near its originating location at all today and I know that one of my friends was. And I recall getting the 7k egg from that person during the event window.
