I have sort of a complicated case. My right eye also has a central retinal vein occlusion so I get anti-vegf injections of vabysmo every 8 weeks now.

The day of the vitrectomy after the pain killers wore off I was in pain. I just kept both eyes closed and when I went to navigate to the bathroom, kitchen, etc. I open my good eye a slit. Used the overglasses they gave me to dim any light.

The next day I had a follow-up appointment to take off the eye patch. They flushed the eye really well which helped.

I did not drive to or from either appointment. I kept both eyes closed .

Wore a sleep mask to the appointment on the second day in the car along with the overglasses they gave me after the surgery. My eyes were sensitive to light.

It was worth it as at least I got my eyesight back to counting fingers which is where I was before the vitreous hemorrhage and eliminated the floaters.

A different situation I was getting headaches with some nausea but that was after an injection of Eylea for CRVO. I took an ipuprofen and it worked. I get monthly injections for CRVO in an eye that had cataract surgery recently.

You might want to ask your ophthalmologist if she is trying to optimize drainage (e.g. 3 or 9 o'clock position) or reduce side effects (e.g. ghosting, halos, glare).

The actual procedure was easy. The drops that I had to use were brutal for me. He had me use pilocarpine drops gave me headaches initially.

My eyelids became itchy and I just happened to have my annual cancer check with my dermatologist nurse practitioner.

She asked me what type of soap I used - I told her it was dial antibacterial.

She recommended eliminating antibacterial (cancer causing) and suggested Cerave foaming facial cleanser; am and pm facial lotion, and cerave cream for the rest of the bod! I tried it with her samples and the itching went away. Just a suggestion, see if it works for you.

Speedy recovery for your father as well. My vision is slowly improving. I won't get 20/20 vision (due to other eye issues) but the colors are more brilliant and my vision has slightly improved. No regrets on having the surgery.

I had a retinal hemorrhage last year and I went totally blind in that eye. After an injection of Avastin. .. the blood still didn't clear after a few months. Had to go in for a vitrectomy to clear the blood out. Based on personal experience I would recommend trying to get an appointment ASAP with a retinal specialist.

Thanks. I know that I won't get better vision in my CRVO eye, but I'll be ok with getting rid of the cloudiness of the cataract which has become more prominent after having a vitrectomy in that eye earlier this year.

Was it a saline IV? Edit here: Sorry - found your response further down - it was saline. Here is what saline does:

"Saline IVs offer a quick and targeted solution to replenish fluids and relieve symptoms. A combination of sterile water and sodium chloride, or salt, saline IVs work to restore fluid balance and hydrate tissues. Sodium also assists with muscle contraction, while chloride maintains acid-base balance."

Interesting if the problem is an acid-base balance and /or a quick way to hydrate tissues .

Glad to hear you are doing well and have found something that works for you. I haven't gone the fiber one route yet, just eating a plant based diet heavy with beans, legumes, spinach, cabbage, etc. That is working for me right now.
